Background

2014 was a year of video image explosion. The song "Little Apple" set off a national square dance frenzy, and the "Ice Bucket Incident" provided an exciting sample of public charity communication; the Korean drama "You Who Came From the Stars" made "alien professor" Do Min Joon an overnight star; TV stations and video websites also saw a golden opportunity for reality TV shows. Reality TV shows on TV stations and video websites have also ushered in a golden age.

Whether it's a movie or a TV show, produced by an organization or uploaded by users, video has become an "obvious science" that curates the public's daily conversation and carries the nation's collective memory. Youku's president Wei Ming said that the latest data shows that Youku's APP is ranked second among Chinese applications in terms of installed base, and first in terms of daily and weekly per capita hours of use.

This reflects the weight of video in the lives of Chinese netizens, and Youku is leading the "2014 All-Video Night" to revisit the excitement of video images in 2014 together with netizens' favorite video characters.
