Folk Customs of Qingjie She Township

Qingjie She Township is a place where the spirit of the city, the culture of education and the simplicity of the people are honored, and where some of the traditional characteristics of the crafts and customs are still inherited today. Qingjie She is an immigrant from Fujian in the Ming Dynasty. Lei, Lan, Li and Zhong are the four major surnames of She, and they mainly live in the mountainous areas, forming a large scattered and small centralized settlement pattern. The She and Han people live in harmony, helping and loving each other. The She people are known for their diligence, honesty, bravery, ability to sing and dance, and have formed many customs and festivals rich in national characteristics. The songs, costumes and traditional customs of the She people are rare human resources, and one of the most characteristic festivals is the March 3 Song Contest of the She people. Men and women of the She ethnic group gather in groups at the square and sing songs all night long, with a warm atmosphere and a grand scene. Qingjie She Folk Museum was founded in 2001, very regional characteristics. Inside the museum, more than 500 pieces of bamboo production tools, bamboo handicrafts, bamboo musical instruments, She clothing, early She folk living goods, etc. are collected and set up in each compartment in different categories. There are 11 exhibition halls, including costumes and crowns, traditional utensils, ancient relics, daytime plowing and nighttime reading, lifelong customs, bedrooms, ancient carvings, She celebrities, painting, silhouettes of life, and a collection of bamboo utensils. Bamboo ware can be knitted by the hands of skilled craftsmen to produce a wide variety of bamboo products, with all kinds of varieties and exquisite forms, making it a highly collectible tourist souvenir. The She bridal costumes, embroidered garments and crowns on display in the exhibition hall are a sight to behold, with colorful embroidered handkerchiefs, protective ribbons, silver beads and phoenix crowns, waistbands and bibs, seven-color bags, embroidered scented pouches, and ramie-embroidered uniforms appearing to be rare and valuable. The Lifetime Customs Exhibition Hall is designed and displayed in nine groups according to the customs of the She Countryside and Minnan Customs, reflecting the folklore of the She and Han people over the past thousand years. The whole exhibition hall consists of statues and dolls. From the matchmaker, gift engagement, flowers, marriage, marriage worship to childbirth, weekly, school, life, funeral ceremonies, etc., the puppets have different images, realistic, creating a lively atmosphere of blowing, welcoming and celebrating.
