2012 Vienna New Year Concert Information

Hello~

The conductor of the 2012 Vienna New Year Concert was Maris Jansons. This concert was Jansons’ breakthrough with 23 pieces in 2006. After recording the total number of performances, the program will once again "strengthen" - the total number of performances in 2012 will reach a new high, reaching 24.

In the repertoire, the biggest highlight is undoubtedly the first performance of the famous Russian composer Tchaikovsky’s works on the stage of the Vienna New Year Concert. It is worth pondering that 2012 is not the year of Lao Chai’s birth and death, and there seems to be no special background for performing his works; but Jansons’ interpretation of Tchaikovsky has always been praised, which may have contributed to this collaboration main reason. Judging from the selection of music in recent years, the orchestra also clearly hopes to increase the appeal of the New Year's concert by broadening the range of repertoire.

The conductor and orchestra are also actively expanding the Strauss family's uncommon repertoire. Judging from the program list, the three opening works are all premieres of the New Year's concert, which is refreshing; The premiere includes six excerpts from St. Christian Lumbaie's "The Gallop of Copenhagen" and two excerpts from Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty". In addition, after 1998, the Vienna Boys' Choir will once again perform on the stage of the New Year's Concert after a lapse of 14 years, singing "Chatting Polka" and "Strike the French Polka".

The 2012 Vienna New Year Concert has a total of 24 pieces of music. In addition to the works of the Strauss family, there are also works of Joseph Hermesberger, Rembei, and Zirer. , what’s more worth mentioning is that two classic works by the famous composer Tchaikovsky will appear at the Vienna New Year Concert for the first time. In addition, the children of the Vienna Boys' Choir, who have been away from the New Year's Concert for 13 years, will also appear in this concert again and use "Chat Polka" as a New Year's gift to the world.
