"Call Me "Hey""
Author: Liu Liqin
When Hao Wen climbed up the mountain, a ray of wind blew along the slope, and he I had a strange feeling, as if the tips of mountain girl's hair were brushing across my face inadvertently. Looking back behind him, Shan Niu was walking towards him. Hao Wen's heart felt as if he had been stung by an ant, with light pain.
Hao Wen is from the city. After graduating from normal school, he was assigned to be a primary school teacher and taught for several years. The initial injustice and resentment turned into dust and disappeared like used chalk. What remains in my memory are the innocent smiling faces and childish calls of the children. Those smiling faces and childish voices formed a net again, trapping Hao Wen. While Hao Wen was struggling on the Internet, he met Shan Niu, who had just returned to his hometown after graduating from high school. Shan Niu's faint smile and sweet "teacher" hooked Hao Wen's hands and feet, and Hao Wen couldn't help but escape into Shan Niu's drowning eyes.
Immersed in Shan Niu’s eyes, Hao Wen felt very beautiful, so beautiful that he refused to come out. But whenever he was immersed in that beauty and didn't want to come out, Shan Niu couldn't help but smile and call "Teacher". Shan Niu's voice is very sweet, and Shan Niu's smile is also very attractive, but the title of "teacher" is irritating. On weekdays, Hao Wen likes this title very much. The word "teacher" makes him feel friendly and makes him happy, but he doesn't like it when he is alone in front of Shan Niu. He didn't like Shan Niu calling him "Teacher", so what should Shan Niu call him? He couldn't speak out, so he had to be angry alone when Shan Niu was not around.
Having experienced a lot of beauty and a lot of idleness, Hao Wen finally had an idea in his heart: to ask Shan Niu to go see Qingyun Temple together. The Taoist priests of Qingyun Temple are gone, the statues of Qingyun Temple are gone, and the incense in Qingyun Temple is gone. Qingyun Temple has become the farthest and quietest place from the village. There, Hao Wen couldn't meet his students; there, Hao Wen couldn't meet his students' parents either. He thought there was no one else calling "teacher" there, so Shan Niu should call her something else.
However, on the way to Qingyun Temple, Shan Niu still called "teacher" one after another. Hao Wen's good mood disappeared one after another, and he was so angry that he climbed up the cliff in one breath and turned the mountain upside down. Niu and "Teacher" were far behind.
On the bluestone slab of Qingyun Temple, seeing the fine beads of sweat on Shan Niu’s face and hearing Shan Niu’s gasping for breath, Hao Wen felt so distressed that he wanted to shout “Shan Niu”. But when he thought of the damn "teacher", he couldn't help but refrain from shouting. He was worried that Shan Niu would run back and pick up the "teacher" again. The anger in Hao Wen's heart slowly dissipated. After he was relieved, Hao Wen really wanted to do something that a man should do, but he didn't and turned around and left. He felt that he was a little afraid of Shan Niu, afraid that Shan Niu would call him "teacher".
This time Shan Niu didn’t shout, and Hao Wen felt a little empty in his heart. He turned back to look at Shan Niu, but Shan Niu pursed her lips and smiled. "Why don't you call me teacher?" Hao Wen couldn't help but ask. "Don't shout." Shan Niu said.
"Why?" Hao Wen asked.
"My grandfather said that you cannot call other people's names in cemeteries and temples. If you call someone's name, the mountain gods and wild ghosts will take away their souls." Shan Niu said.
"Oh—" Hao Wen was surprised and said, "Then what did you call me?"
"What do you think?" Shan Niu lowered her head.
"Call me 'Hey', okay?" After Hao Wen said this, Shan Niu's face suddenly turned red. This is the name that women in the mountains use to call men throughout their lives.
Shan Niu raised her blushing face, and Hao Wen was looking at her sincerely and longingly. Shan Niu opened her mouth and softly shouted "Hey", Hao Wen After hearing this, he responded with a loud "Hey". The sound, one low and one high, woke up the birds around and also surprised two budding hearts. The sun was hiding behind the mountains and having fun, and they were immersed in the sound of "Hey" and couldn't get out of it.
