Bugle
Bugle is a kind of folk song directly accompanied by the labor of the song, usually sung in the collective labor. The bugles of northern Shaanxi mainly include the Yellow River Boat T bugle and the bugles of tamping and ramming. The Yellow River originates from Qinghai, flows through Gansu, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia provinces, and flows down along the Jin-Shaan Grand Canyon in Fugu County, northern Shaanxi, with boatmen going to and from both sides of the river in Jin-Shaan, relying on ferrying and short-distance transportation to make a living. The most famous Yellow River boatmen's horn is "Yellow River Boatmen's Song".
Xintianyou
Xintianyou is the main and most representative folk song genre in northern Shaanxi. The tune of Xintianyou consists of two phrases, the upper phrase is more open, with a higher register and a larger musical span, while the lower phrase is more closed, with the melody zigzagging downward, showing the narrative character. The tunes of Xintianyou can be roughly categorized into two types, a type of mountain song with a high and open tone and a relatively free rhythm, and a type of minor key with a calm and stretching tone, a well-proportioned and regular rhythm, and a more rigorous structure.
Small tune
Small tune, also known as small song, the structure of the form is more regular, the tune is more euphemistic and smooth, with twists and turns, delicate performance characteristics. Shaanbei ditties can be divided into general ditties, silk string ditties, rice-planting ditties, custom ditties and chanting ditties. The ditty is a kind of urban folk song processed by folk artists, its scope covers a wide range, the structure is more complete, is a more "artistic" type of folk songs in northern Shaanxi.
Northern Shaanxi folk songs are traditional folk songs in northern Shaanxi, divided into three categories: labor songs, letter of the day, ditties.
