Dream Wedding was composed by Paul de Senneville.
Dream Wedding (French: Mariage d'amour) is a French solo piano piece written in 1979 by the French melodic composer Paul de Senneville. It was first performed by pianist Richard Clayderman in 1979, and is included on the music album Lettre à la Mère.... Lettre à ma Mère".
Title and meaning:
The direct translation of the original title Mariage d'amour is Marriage of Love. It was originally intended to be used for joyous occasions such as weddings. However, because of its minor key, it is often thought to suggest a sad atmosphere, and therefore the wedding described is thought to have never taken place, and even the Chinese title of the song is taken to mean a wedding in a dream.
But according to Gary McCartney, a member of Clayderman's team, the minor key was chosen for the song because wedding music is usually slow and emotional. On the other hand, the minor key was also used to make the piece resemble a round dance.
