Zhang Shixie, born in Tianjin in 1932, is a member of the Chinese Writers' Association, a director of the Chinese Musicians' Association, an executive director of the Chinese Society of Music and Literature, a member of the editorial board of China's monthly magazine "Songs", and a first-class scriptwriter and director of the art room of the Air Force Song and Dance Troupe.
In 1949, he joined the People's Liberation Army, and in 1951, he made his debut in the one-man play Before and After Daybreak; in 1952, he created the song and dance drama A Green Lantern; in 1953-1956, he wrote the lyrics to Chairman Mao's Songs and Dance Drama Chairman Mao Came to Our Farms, The Members of the Society are All Sunny Flowers, The Farmer's Songs, The Ten Sent to the Red Army, The Songs of Autumn Harvest Uprising, and Songs of the Crossing of the Grassland, etc. He also wrote large-scale songs and dances called Revolutionary Historical Songs and Performances, and the Songs of the Revolutionary History. Wang Yuxi, a native of Cheng'an County, Hebei Province, born in 1928, joined the revolution in 1945, is a famous musician and a first-class composer. He was the deputy director of the Bureau of Culture of Hebei Province and the deputy director of the Radio and Television Department of Hebei Province, as well as the vice-chairman of the Provincial Federation of Literature and the chairman of the Hebei Musicians' Association. While engaging in the administrative leadership of literature and art for a long time, he insisted on amateur songwriting. His representative works include "All Members of the Society are Sunflower" (lyrics by Zhang Shixie) and "Li Shuangshuang's Little Song" (lyrics by Xiao Jie). His song "Song of Knowing" (Liu Zhang), was awarded the seventh "Five One Project Award" by the Central Propaganda Department.
