In June 1992, the first large-scale festival of "Kashgar Gurbang Festival of China" was launched.
The festival is scheduled to be held once a year in Kashgar. During this period of time, there will be thousands of Uyghur people in Kashgar Etiga Square to participate in the mass collective dance - dancing Sama. This is a unique way for Uyghur people in Kashgar and other places to express their joyful mood. Early in the morning of the festival, after people go to the Etigarh Mosque to do the festival worship, the musicians will start to play the nagara drums and suona on the roof of the mosque, and with the resounding drum beats and the bright and high pitch sound of the suona, the people have danced the sama dance, and instantly, the whole square was immersed in the joyful atmosphere.
