(A) Maintenance of cochlear implants
● Daily storage: place the sound processor in an electronic drying box or sealed simple drying box every night, and routinely dry it for 3-4 hours every night to dry it out, and replace the desiccant in time when it appears to be discolored.
● Cleaning: Remove the battery and make sure all the contacts are clean, carefully flick off or blow off the dust, wipe the sound processor, coil leads, earhooks, processor housing and other parts with a dry soft cloth; wipe and clean the processor, tuning machine interface, earhook connector port, lead socket, battery and charging metal contact connections with anhydrous alcohol; replace the microphone protective cover regularly, if the implant is located in the If the implantee is in a dusty and humid environment, replace it more frequently; clean the microphone holes at least monthly with a small brush and a blow-up balloon to prevent clogging of the microphone holes.
(ii) Recommendations for listening in acoustic environments
● During spring break, minimize exposure to noisy environments.
● Listening under particularly loud noise should not be too long, such as KTV, discos, game halls, square dances and other leisure and entertainment activities, the sound emitted during parties and celebrations, and if the sound is too loud you can appropriately reduce the volume of the speech processor.
● Mastering listening skills: When communicating in a noisy environment, please be on the side of the child's dominant ear to bring the communication distance closer, and the conversation volume is slightly higher.
● If you are able to do so, try to install a one-to-one FM radio system.
(3) Fireworks and firecrackers in cochlear implant use
● Try not to play with fire, do not throw lit firecrackers, and stay away from the place when lighting firecrackers for some celebrations, and reduce the volume of the speech processor if necessary.
