If it is found that the seller knowingly sells expired food, according to Article 96 of the Food Safety Law, consumers can not only demand compensation for losses, but also demand compensation of ten times the price from the producer or seller.
(2) Article 85 of the Food Safety Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that in case of violation of this law, the relevant competent departments shall confiscate the illegal income, the food illegally produced and marketed, and the tools, equipment, raw materials and other articles used for illegal production and marketing according to the division of responsibilities;
If the value of food illegally produced and operated is less than 10,000 yuan, a fine of more than 2,000 yuan and less than 50,000 yuan shall be imposed; If the value of the goods is more than 10 thousand yuan, a fine of more than five times and less than ten times the value of the goods shall be imposed; If the circumstances are serious, the license shall be revoked.
Food safety compensation: producers and operators may be required to pay compensation of ten times the price or three times the food safety loss; If the additional compensation amount is less than 1000 yuan, it shall be directly compensated 1000 yuan. If personal, property or other damages are caused to consumers, producers and operators shall be liable for compensation according to law.

Article 13 To apply for a food business license, the following materials shall be submitted to the local food and drug supervision and administration department at or above the county level where the applicant is located:
