Beijing, 65438+February 6, 2008: For a long time, people thought that China people were taller than Japanese people, but recently, some people said that China people were taller than Japanese people. To this end, Xinhua News Agency interviewed Xie Yalong, director of the Group Department of the State Sports General Administration.
Xie Yalong said: "The height of adults in China is generally increasing, but the growth rate is more than twice as low as that of Japanese peers. At present, males over 40 years old in China are higher than those in Japan 1.2cm, while males under 39 years old are 0.68 cm lower than their Japanese peers. Compared with the average height of Japanese peers, the height of young and middle-aged men in China has no advantage. The height of female adults in China is still higher than that of Japanese peers at all ages, but with the decrease of age, the gap is getting smaller and smaller. " He further explained that the above results have been shown in the "China Adult Physical Fitness Monitoring Report" issued by the former State Sports Commission (now the State Sports General Administration) 1998. The data of Japanese physique comes from the investigation report of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology 1997.
Comparing the two reports of China and China, we can see that the height of Japanese people is lower than that of Japanese men at all ages. Among teenagers, the height of China women is lower than that of Japanese women. From this physical fitness monitoring, it can be seen that the height growth rate of Japanese people is faster than that of China, and the height gap between Chinese and Japanese men is below 40 years old, indicating that the height of men born in China in the late 1950s and early 1960s began to be lower than that of Japanese people.
Xie Yalong finally pointed out that height is an integral part of people's physique, and it also reflects the basic condition of a nation's physique. Human resources are an integral part of a country's comprehensive national strength, and height is an important part of the basic form of human body. Its development and changes reflect China's economic and social development and existing problems. The results of height comparison between Chinese and Japanese nationals should arouse great concern of the whole society.

Three major defects of China people
2006-0 1-06 18:3 1:42
Large, medium and small
Indeed, over the years of reform and opening up, our society has indeed created an economic miracle, and people's wealth and life have indeed been greatly improved. However, behind these substances, there is nothing in the depths of the soul and the body is still weak. Chen Duxiu, the leader of the May 4th New Culture Movement, has long warned: "The educated youth in our country are helpless and have no husband's heart. White face and slender waist, charming as a virgin; Afraid of cold and heat, weak as a patient. With such a weak national, why does he become an arduous and far-reaching politician day by day? How can he never look back and hope to carry out his thoughts? He is a soldier every day. How can he fight and not give in? He became a religious man day by day. How can he devote himself to the wilderness and stick to the good way? He is an industrialist day by day, how can he think of all kinds of skills, go all out, take all risks, ride the wind and waves, and win thousands of miles away? . . "And now China's compensation is different.
Being behind is not necessarily terrible. What is really terrible is that "hands are powerless", and the whole nation is weak; What is really terrible is that "there is no husband in my heart", a kind of national spirit is lost or simply missing. Chen Duxiu said that the difficult road of the nation is far from being completely crossed.
First, the weakness of Confucianism, which has lost its humanity.
First of all, the origin of Confucianism was only developed by Confucius who advocated reform in view of the disadvantages of the era in which he lived. This is no different from the ideas of "learning from foreigners to control foreigners" and "using western learning in learning" put forward by the Qing Dynasty. Based on the chaos of social order in the Spring and Autumn Period, Confucius advocated rebuilding social order with ethics, and his core idea was to advocate "Jun Jun, ministers, father and son". The truth advocated is very realistic, and its ideal is to let ordinary people live a better life. However, all his thoughts were over-dogmatized, utilized and adopted by autocratic rulers, and became tools to stifle people's thoughts. Therefore, the author Harden believes that the emergence of Confucianism has certain positive significance in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period and is a product of history. One-sided proposal to overthrow Kong Laoer is as ridiculous as modern people scolding Watt for saying that "this steam engine wastes too much coal and pollutes the environment". In any era, different people have to propose reforms against abuses, which is not the patent of Confucius. What should be laughed at is that we have not kept pace with the times and rebuilt our ideological values. The author believes that Confucianism has at least the following disadvantages:
1, which fundamentally confuses the boundaries between private morality and public morality. The so-called "self-cultivation, keeping the family in order and governing the country" means that personal morality is the premise of governing the country, and governing the country is like governing the family. "If the ancient desire is obviously superior to the world, govern the country first; If you want to govern your country, you should first get your family together; If you want to reunite with your family, you should first repair your body; If you want to cultivate yourself, you should be upright first; If you want to be correct, be sincere first; Be sincere, let him know first; Know in the matter. " Its absurdity lies not in its obvious unrealistic fantasy or utopia, nor in the connection between morality and politics, but in its failure to admit that private life and public life are completely different fields. Equating the two, moralizing politics and giving the state the right to interfere in private life, individual freedom disappears. The power of moral judgment is far greater than that of legal judgment, which determines a person's fate. From this point of view, China, which runs the country by virtue and courtesy, is very similar to some Islamic countries where politics and religion are integrated. In fact, there are many examples in history that confuse private morality with public morality. I think the most representative is Wei Yan in the Three Kingdoms. According to folklore, Zhuge Liang found an "anti-bone" behind Wei Yan's head, thinking that Wei Yan would turn against him sooner or later, so he never wanted to reuse it. Of course, the "anti-bone" theory is false. If this is true, it would be absurd for Zhuge Liang to judge a book by its cover! In fact, from a deeper perspective, the real reason why Zhuge Liang doesn't like Wei Yan is that Wei Yan is arrogant and "not cultivated enough" (hehe, it doesn't conform to the Confucian thought of selecting people). Influenced by Confucianism, Zhuge Liang likes to "stay away from it quietly" and appreciates people who are modest, cautious, step-by-step, hardworking and gentle. Wei Yan always complains that Zhuge Liang has not exhausted all his talents. Zhuge Liang must have heard about it, but he certainly didn't like him, which eventually led to Wei Yan's death. I often think that if this Wei brother comes to the United States thousands of years later, he may become the second Barton of the United States, hehe.
2. Confucianism advocates asceticism, which has been the central idea of Confucian cultivation since the Song Dynasty. It violates the relationship between people, humanity and nature, and goes from "truth" to absurdity. They even arranged the five desires in the order of Buddhism's eyes, ears, nose, tongue and body. Completely: it's too much and harmful to people. People are not good and want to seduce. If you want to know, you won't know what is wrong. Therefore, eyes yearn for color, ears yearn for sound, even nose yearns for smell, mouth yearns for taste, and body yearns for peace. This is to make it also. But why kill its desire? Yue: Just thinking. Learning is more expensive than thinking, but thinking will kill desire. Ceng Zi's three provinces, the way to kill desire. (The case of Song and Yuan Dynasties, the case of Yichuan Studies). The most representative in history is Comrade Liu Xiahui. This fellow can "sit freely", and it is because of "sitting freely" that he will remain immortal. Hehe, what kind of value orientation is this? Even human sexual desire can be suppressed. Is this an advanced culture?
3. Confucianism advocates "being proud of poverty" and "enjoying poverty". Confucian works praise those who have a way, "though the crowd is empty, so is the feast." If you are poor, you will avoid the material temptation of debauchery. Confucianism believes that the lower the living standard, the higher the moral quality. They regard the improvement of material life as the source of evil, and put life desire and moral cultivation in an irreconcilable position. "Not justice, but lust" and "Justice without desire" (Yi Chuan Xue Case in Song and Yuan Dynasties).
4. Confucianism attributes all knowledge to the study of religious cultivation. Confucianism is not transforming the objective world, but purifying the heart; Don't look outward, but reflect inward; I don't know the laws of the world, but take honesty as a virtue. The norm of sages is the apotheosis of Confucianism, which is the typical "person" of monks. They said: If you are good at it, you can learn and even learn the way of being a saint. ..... joys and sorrows, love evil desires, fiery and beneficial emotions, and clear-cut nature. Therefore, it was the awakened one who made an appointment with his own feelings and began to fit in with the middle way, so he said, "Sex is his feeling." Fools don't know how to control it, so that their feelings are so circuitous that they die of their nature, so they say, "Love their nature." ("Yan Zi on how to learn")
5. Confucianism restricted the germination of new ideas and China's production technology and scientific inventions. After the Ming Dynasty, China's scientific and technological achievements began to lag behind the world. The main reason for this backwardness is that China's capitalism has no chance to develop, and the perfection of Confucian system and its suffocation of people's exploration spirit also make the pace of science lag behind. Superstructure is by no means indifferent to its foundation, it should actively maintain its foundation. The feudal society in China was particularly stubborn, and the obstruction of Confucianism should be one of the reasons.
Some people think that China is different from Europe and there is no arbitrary religion; We should see that China has its own unique religion, and its religious influence is obviously looser than that of Europe, while its religious influence is deeper and wider, and its firmness in controlling the masses is even greater than that of the European churches in the Middle Ages. There were pagan courts in Europe in the Middle Ages, and the dogmatic rules of China Confucianism towards apostates were also very harsh. Anyone who violates the feudal patriarchal norms and is considered to be a major violation of morality and ethics can be disposed of in public in the ancestral hall until his death. The more important means is to "kill people by reason." People who were tortured by Confucianism were even deprived of the right to groan and could not get any sympathy and pity. For thousands of years, thousands of men and women in Qian Qian have been silently sentenced to death by Confucian "justice". Confucianism "treats people's hunger and cold, men's and women's worries, and even dying, nothing more than human desires" (Dai Zhen: "Mencius' Word Meaning") must be eliminated quickly. It is really "killing people like grass without hearing the sound", and the mental shackles are many times harsher than the material shackles.
Second, the hard injury-our quality
What is the fundamental driving force for social progress? Where is the driving force of social development? To answer this question is to catch the cow by the nose, and the answer is not difficult to come by. That is: the quality of people, the main body of a society.
How have we developed in these twenty years? Let's take a look: First, rely on the old money of the Mao Zedong era. Remember the bonus in the early' 80s? That is to eat old money. The current reform of state-owned enterprises is even more blatant. Second, by selling land, the great development of Shanghai is typical. Thirdly, we rely on China's natural resources, many of which are precious and non-renewable, so we can eat when we get rich. The barren hills and grasslands become deserts, and we sell cheap labor along the coast, even if this is the only bright spot.
Many problems in China society are, in the final analysis, people's quality. There is a controversial proposition: Are China people smart or not? Some people are eager to talk to foreigners, saying that China people are the smartest people, and all the evidence they produce comes from foreigners' mouths, which simply can't stand scrutiny. To be smart, we must determine the standard of intelligence. In fact, the standard is not difficult to determine: when you look at his behavior, his behavior is always dominated by the brain. Can you say that he is a clever man who always does stupid things, always does short-sighted things, and always kills the goose that lays the golden egg? How many stupid things have China people done now and in the past? Are these all made by smart people? Second, look at the strength of thinking ability, especially the strength of abstract thinking ability. Memory and observation are auxiliary abilities. Without thinking ability, no other ability can be materialized into social progress and wealth accumulation.
To be sure, China people's abstract thinking ability is very weak, and the big professors of China University are not strong in abstract thinking ability. Otherwise, why are they all professors who "explain other people's theories" and "follow international trends"? Without him, they can't think of their own affairs. Workers, farmers and the general public who are not fully educated can imagine their thinking ability. American Huntington (who talks about the clash of civilizations) put it well: behind the system is culture. But I don't think it's over. What is behind the culture? Behind the culture is the national behavior pattern: for example, we attach importance to experience in China, and "crossing the river by feeling the stones" is the behavior pattern. That's not enough. What is behind the behavior pattern? This is a mode of thinking, which is the root of the problem. In fact, it is not difficult to understand that people are different from animals. People rule the earth because they have brains and thinking ability. Therefore, the strength of thinking ability determines the strength of human attributes. How many people live like animals in China? Because of poor thinking ability, the living conditions of China people are not far from those of animals.
Look at our poor abstract thinking ability (behavior pattern) in China: 1, and gambling is world-famous. Gambling depends on luck, not brains. 2, love to see what others do, keep up with yourself. 3, superstition, the number 8888,6666 can actually sell a lot of money, and the whole society does not feel ridiculous. 4. Empiricism prevails, building a model and learning from the group. Why should we learn from it? Because he can't come up with a solution to the problem that meets his own conditions through thinking, he just studies agriculture and opens terraces all over the country like others. Now it is industrial Guangzhou, attracting investment from all over the country and crossing the river by feeling the stones, which is synonymous with empiricism. Can you really cross the river by feeling the stones? There is always a direction to touch, which direction to touch: we subconsciously moved the experience of the four little dragons and touched the stone according to their experience and direction. 7. Not to mention natural science. If you can understand the theory of foreigners thoroughly, you can become an academician and have the spirit of innovation. If you have a wish, you can do anything and do something. 8. From individuals to society, another major feature of China people's behavior pattern: from one extreme to the other, the Cultural Revolution, the left-leaning extreme, and now the right-leaning extreme, only money is life, and even saving people is the first price, which is a miracle in the history of world civilization. This extreme behavior pattern is actually the external expression of empirical thinking mode. Going to extremes brings great oscillation to the society, and social wealth is seriously lost in the violent oscillation. Whether in ancient times or today, we have not jumped out of such a periodic law. 9. Culturally like martial arts, like emperors, and the taste of the whole people is vulgar. Do not face up to history and be good at forgetting. 10, I don't like reading, I don't like thinking, because most people in China have poor abstract (logical) thinking ability, and it is difficult to get the guide to action and the results and gains brought by thinking. So it is difficult to form the habit and interest of thinking. In this respect, there are still counterexamples among China people, but they are too few, too few and rare. Like Zhuge Liang in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, he just mastered some logical deduction methods, so he became a god in China. Also, ancient Mozi, modern Mao Zedong. Mozi, not many scholars remember him, loves to think. He said, "righteousness is beneficial." See how many experts have explained the relationship between morality and interests so thoroughly. Mao Zedong's greatness lies in that he is a thinker, which is why he can achieve great things. China is good at thinking that there are really too few people who can be worshipped like this in Mao Zedong. I dare to boldly predict that even the best system will be read as crooked classics if the cultural quality of the whole nation is not greatly improved.
The high quality of a nation and a good system will promote each other and promote each other in a virtuous circle, but only change the system, and a low-quality group will eventually make it change color. Recently, a group of scholars talked about and noticed "good market economy and bad market economy". America and Britain are good market economies, while Latin America is a bad market economy. It can be seen that the system is not omnipotent, and the subject who implements the system has great flexibility and great ability to shape the system. But we don't want to deny the effectiveness of the system. We hope that a good political and economic system can be established in China as soon as possible.
So, what are the characteristics of a nation with strong abstract thinking ability? Comparing America, Britain and Germany, we can see: 1, love learning and reading. 2. The ruling group has a strong foresight on the development trend of the international and domestic society, so when the problem comes to an end, it can take timely measures or make decisive decisions to adjust the direction of national development. 3. It is a prescience that the rich group does not exhaust the resources of the weak group. If they run out of resources to fish, it will endanger the stability of the country and thus cannot guarantee long-term wealth. 4. The political system can be constantly adjusted, emphasizing the rule of law and ignoring the rule of man. This is not to say that they naturally love the rule of law, but that the rule of law is a scientific way of governing the country. 5. Reasonable use of wealth, little foolish consumption, love of science, like to explore natural culture, no food culture. The embodiment of strong abstract thinking ability in governing the country can be summarized as: strong foresight, foresight, that is, logical deduction ability, abstract thinking ability, and good policy formulation must be predictive.
There is an interesting phenomenon in China people's thinking mode: visual thinking mode (I don't know how to call it), or pictographic comparison. For example, Nostoc flagelliforme is favored because its pronunciation, like "making a fortune", is a low-level thinking mode in the primary stage of human thinking development, and it has a very simple logical connection: homophonic-"homophony with different meanings". The witch cursed people and put a needle into a paper man's heart and put it under his pillow. "Can make people feel distressed and painful to death", the same type-has the same effect. Image connection is a (but incorrect) way of thinking produced by China people, and it has the embryonic state of abstract thinking, from which most superstitions come.
Third, the obstacle-the lack of our military thinking.
On the important viewpoint of "sexual selection" discovered by Darwin, the Austrian scholar Lorenz demonstrated that human beings also have the instinct to attack. Lorenz pointed out in his book Attack and Humanity that "fighting enthusiasm" is the most dangerous and indispensable attack type, because it is also the innate basis of human violence and the highest goal of creating civilization. He even thinks that if this fighting enthusiasm disappears, people will lack motivation from shaving to artistic or scientific creation.
Thousands of years of world history have proved that a martial nation is always full of vitality and enterprising spirit. No matter other nationalities in the world, China in the pre-Qin period, all countries are striving for hegemony, with fierce competition and strong martial arts. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, wuyue had both the best swords in China and the best fighters in China at that time. Wu, Yue, Xiao Er, can break through the capital of Chu, a big country, and can compete for hegemony in the Central Plains. Shi Shuyun, "Chu people are bellicose", but archaeological excavations show that Chu people may not have any funerary objects because of poverty after their death, but they must have swords when they are buried; "Qin Feng is fierce", Qin is called "the country of tigers and wolves" and "the teacher of tigers and wolves"; Qi is a "dragon attack"; Zhao Yan is a "land of four wars", and Zhao Yan has always been a generous and sad person. Zhao Wen Wang Jianke 3,000 men fought day and night at the front. "Zhuangzi" describes his sword-dancing scene like this: "His head is covered with mane, his crown is drooping, and his tassel is short, which is difficult to read. Hit the front, cut the neck collar, cut the lungs and liver. " Yan Ying set a plan, just for the name of a brave man, two peaches can kill three scholars. Zuo Zhuan and Historical Records recorded how many martyrs bravely splashed red in five steps. It is no wonder that Guo Chengyao marveled in the Summary of Wude: "The national spirit of that day was as bright as the sun and the moon, as the power of thunder." This can also be clearly seen when some ethnic groups are regarded as other members of the Chinese nation. Manchu children learn archery when they are very young. People teach them the majestic shooting positions, which is more important than accurate aiming. This is actually a martial spirit education that has existed since childhood. "I ride and shoot the world" is a saying often used by the Qing emperors. They conquered the whole of China with hundreds of thousands of people going south like nobody's business. It should be said that they rely on a spiritual advantage of martial arts. However, when the children of the Eight Banners degenerated and became the best man who sang opera, raised birds and fought cocks, the Qing Empire came to an end.
The existence of the national chivalrous spirit can be said to be a big issue related to the rise and fall of this nation and even its life and death. In fact, this problem has long been known. "Wrestling" said: "Those who have the horn of a husband declare courage and are also smart. However, with the decisive victory and victory, the viewer is far from timid, he is brave and quick. Make it possible to fight against the enemy, dare to die and dare to cook, and go forward bravely. Division is also the force of the military, and the competition is becoming more and more fierce. " Wushu, with its essence and bravery, is undoubtedly the best means to maintain, preserve and cultivate the national Wushu spirit. In fact, this has long been recognized.
At that time, Mao Zedong, a young man, also said with emotion in the famous article "Research on Sports": "In today's civilized countries, martial arts is the most prosperous, and its fencing fighting style is spread all over the country; Japan has Bushido. " He believes that China's "weak national strength" lies in its "weak military style". At this time, China Wushu, with its specific connotation and efficacy, and its profound national soil background, first attracted people's attention. Ma Liang advocated "new Wushu" and called on Chinese people to "revitalize Wushu and strengthen the country". He believes that "by promoting all my martial arts education to develop the physique of our compatriots, our country can turn weak into strong and wait for it"; Xie Siyan suggested: "All schools should teach boxing sticks. Art doesn't have to be fine, it doesn't take long, but it must be a compulsory subject "; Sun Yat-sen even pointed out: "China's boxing and bravery are similar to those of western aircraft cannons. "Under the influence of this idea, various martial arts museums and martial arts groups have sprung up all over the country. Among these martial arts groups, the most famous and influential are the Jason Wu Sports Association founded by Huo Yuanjia and the Central Martial Arts Museum founded by Zhang Zhijiang.
Mr. Huo Yuanjia should be said to be an epoch-making figure in the history of modern Wushu and even Wushu. His greatness lies not only in his superb martial arts, but also in his defeat of Japanese ronin and his fear of western lux. Instead, he shouted, "I have only one skill, only one knife and one shot. I really don't want our people to beat others with one knife and one shot." It is because he founded the Jason Wu Sports Association, the purpose of which is "different political factions do not argue about their advantages and disadvantages, advocate martial arts, study sports and build a strong people". See how the song of Jason Wu Club sings: "Sports will make a name for Jason Wu and train patriotic youth;" Sports clubs are famous for their martial arts and promote the elite of martial arts. Hurry up and cheer up, the weather is eventful. Every man has the responsibility to save the country and win. When his chest is full of blood, he leans. Fine and thick, weak in martial arts, the piano, heart and sword are interrelated. Morale is greatly boosted, inspiring thunder, and the three-star flag flutters the sun star. " Promote martial arts, strengthen the country and species, and the magnificent national martial spirit is full of passionate lyrics.
With Huo Yuanjia's time and his background at that time, it is what a tolerance, mind and depth of thought to have such knowledge. No wonder Sun Yat-sen personally prefaced Jason Wu Discipline and presented a plaque of "Martial Spirit". No wonder Chen Duxiu sneered at some movements of "reviving the quintessence of Chinese culture", but he introduced and praised Huo Yuanjia and Jingwu Club in New Youth. No wonder The Sound of Speed, organized by the Jason Wu Association, has been widely circulated in China and developed to Hongkong and Southeast Asia, and it has never failed. The ideas of saving the country by sports and martial arts, including saving the country by the army and the people, put forward at the beginning of the 20th century are worthy of further study. There are many reasons why some ideas are inconsistent, not their own irrationality. At least, they saw that Wushu, a traditional national sports event, can be promoted as a national sports activity, relying on it as an effective means to invigorate the national spirit, and its brilliance is the treasure of the Chinese soul, which is very insightful. Guo Chengyao once summed up this history in "Summary of Martial Arts": "* * * In return, our people should strengthen their country first." The wind is surging, learning martial arts. Look at history in detail, the rise and fall of boxing, the rise and fall of the country. A climb in the storm, gains and losses through the ages. I can't help feeling emotional. "Read this history; Read Qiu Jin's poems: "Mourning and clapping, sword dancing", "Vowing to survive from death, world peace depends on the three armed forces"; We can't help but feel deeply when we know how so many people go through all kinds of hardships to promote Wushu and inspire the spirit of national Wushu. Stimulating the spirit of national martial arts is not an outdated topic. Look at the consequences of our thousands of years of emphasizing literature over martial arts.
200 1,1/The State Sports General Administration, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the State Planning Commission and other departments jointly launched the "2000 National Physical Fitness Monitoring" in 3/kloc-0 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, which lasted for three years and was called the first national physical fitness monitoring with the largest scale and widest coverage since the founding of the People's Republic of China. There are many explanations in the monitoring results, so I won't list them one by one. I just compare the physique of our teenagers with that of our "little Japan" separated only by a strip of water. Compared with Japanese teenagers, Japanese teenagers are superior to their peers in China in growth and development, nutrition level, strength quality and speed quality.
Physically, Japanese teenagers are stronger than China teenagers, and their grip is better than that of China teenagers. Standing long jump, Japan's younger group is better than us, and the older group wants to win. In terms of speed, this is a 50-meter race, and Japanese teenagers are better than us. In sensitivity, we are better than Japanese teenagers.
In terms of height, the height and weight of boys and girls aged 1979 ~ 17 are lower than those of Japan, so that some scholars exclaim that "Little Japan is not small", which leads to discussion and reflection on China people's physique.
In 2000, the gap between China students' height and weight in all age groups and Japan was narrowing, and the annual growth rate of 2/kloc-0 was significantly higher than that of Japan. Compared with the same age group of 7- 17, the height of rural boys and girls in China is lower than that of Japanese.
In terms of adult weight, China was smaller than Japan before the age of 40, and then China was bigger than Japan. The changes of Japanese height and body mass index are relatively stable, and the range of change is smaller than that of China. With the increase of age, the obesity phenomenon in China is more serious than that in Japan. Obesity among middle-aged and elderly people in China has become an extremely unfavorable factor for health.
