According to the data of New Fujian, Shunchang County is located in the northwest of Fujian Province, at the intersection of Futunxi and Jinxi in the upper reaches of Minjiang River. It is "the source of Minjiang River and the prosperous place of Shunda", and governs 12 towns (streets) and 130 administrative villages. There is no high iodine area in Fujian province, which belongs to the area that needs iodine supplementation.
As of July 6, 2023, Shunchang Qianshan is a national demonstration county for ecological civilization construction, the first hometown of Chinese fir and the first batch of bamboo in China. The urban area is 8.6 square kilometers and the population is 84,000.
