How to test whether my chinchilla is healthy?

The basic health status can be seen from the daily stool of chinchilla, so as to find problems in time and carry out conditioning treatment in advance.

1, healthy poop:

Long oval, no mucus on the surface, can be easily swept away when it falls on the pedal in the cage, and will not stick. If it is easily broken by hand, there will be no stains on the hand and honeycomb pores on the cross section.

The surface of freshly baked poop is generally a little wet, and many fully digested BB are elastic to pinch. Don't mistake this for soft poop.

2, soft stool:

Although the feces are granular, they are very soft. Some feces seem to be covered with a layer of slippery transparent mucus, and the pedals are covered with soft feces trampled by my neighbor totoro.

At this time, it is time to pay attention. Please use food and health care drugs to regulate the stomach of chinchilla in time to prevent more serious situations.

3. Diarrhea:

The feces are thin and soft or mushy and sticky, and there are stains on the pedals in the cage. The hair near my chinchilla's anus may be polluted by feces.

When the chinchilla is found to have diarrhea, it is necessary to take immediate action and feed the medicine for treating diarrhea to avoid dehydration caused by diarrhea. If you have been dehydrated (the weight has dropped sharply, exceeding 5 grams a day), you need to go to an experienced pet hospital to give my chinchilla an infusion. Diarrhea, especially severe diarrhea, will cause enteritis if it is not treated in time. ,

4, constipation:

Feces become smaller, harder, denser and sometimes turn black. In severe cases, it will even become completely free of feces.

Don't ignore that constipation is also a sign that chinchilla is unhealthy. In severe cases, it can cause abdominal pain, listlessness and shortness of breath. It needs to be treated with fruits, health products and exercise that can regulate the stomach and intestines.
