First, if the student points it out in person, I will check with him immediately. If I am really wrong, I will apologize and thank him for pointing it out.
I remember that I didn't work until more than ten years ago. Once when I was studying by myself, a student asked me whether I was studying [j(r)] or [je? I wasn't sure at that time, so I looked it up in the dictionary with him and found that the correct pronunciation should be [j (r)], not what I usually read [je? To tell the truth, I am embarrassed.
It's embarrassing to be pointed out by students. But I was really wrong, so I had to apologize and thank him for pointing it out.
I looked up a string of words, such as him and us, and knew that they read [hi] and [wi:] instead of [hei] and [wei].
Second, the students think I'm wrong, and I'm not sure. I'll check it down and tell them then.
Once in class, I was talking about an article about losing weight. A girl asked, "Teacher, is there any other way besides what the book says?" I'm giving a lecture, the class is quiet, and this girl is asking questions loudly. I was a little unhappy and casually said "liposuction zh:". As a result, the whole class burst into laughter, and then I heard a student tell his deskmate that it should be "liposuction" I am embarrassed, but I am not sure. You know, I am a southerner living in the north, and I have always been afraid of being too confident in Mandarin.
After class, I looked up the word immediately and found that I was not wrong. "Fat" has only one pronunciation and one sound. I am also relieved that the students "burst into laughter". Maybe one day, they can know that they think other people's mistakes are actually wrong.
Now every time I talk about the word fat, I will remind students that "fat" has only one pronunciation.
Third, the student asked privately, and I replied after private investigation, praising him for his serious learning attitude.
Just last semester, I had a pre-class exercise on healthy eating in the unit, and I chose fruit, meat and pasta, which can raise blood sugar in the human body faster. What I said in class was spaghetti. In the afternoon, I received a qq message from a student, saying that she thought the answer should be fruit, because fructose in fruit also quickly raised blood sugar.
So I went to send her a screenshot of GI (glycemic index) of flour and fruit food. Well-founded, she realized that what she said in class was correct. I praised her serious learning attitude and thanked her for reminding me of one thing: preparing lessons more carefully and explaining them to students more clearly.
After being a teacher for so many years, I feel more and more that teachers are saints. It is necessary to be proficient in professional knowledge in order to preach and teach, and to be familiar with astronomy and geography in order to convince students. When students are depressed, we should also use psychology and psychological knowledge to cook some chicken soup for them.
"What you know is what you know, and what you don't know is what you don't know." I have always kept in mind the truth that Mr. Confucius taught us. Keep a modest attitude and correct your mistakes, and students will understand. Thank my classmates for pointing out my mistakes, so that I can keep learning and work harder in education.
