Moderator: Hello, audience friends! This is CCTV's live program "The Road to Health". Today, we are going to talk about motion sickness, seasickness and airsickness.
Listen to an interview:
Woman: carsickness is particularly uncomfortable, especially at the moment when I first stopped with the car. I feel so uncomfortable that I almost threw up.
Man: When I get carsick, I don't think I can leave my seat and stand up.
Woman: I just have a headache, my whole body aches and I want to sleep.
W: I'm particularly sensitive to the smell of gasoline.
Ms. Tian: When I was in college, I went home every year. It took me about 53 hours by train. I feel sick at the thought of whistling. This is already a conditioned reflex. For almost three days and nights, I hardly ate anything, because I was going to throw up when I ate it. At the worst time, I spit out all the jaundice water.
Moderator: Impossible. Ms. Tian takes two motion sickness pills every time before taking the bus. After eating, she will fall asleep. But strangely, Ms. Tian was dizzy by car, but not by driving.
Ms. Tian: This is a very strange thing. When driving, you will feel sick only if the traffic jam lasts for a long time, but as long as you get off the bus, it will be much better with fresh air.
Mom Liu: I think it is particularly inconvenient to have a carsick person at home. For example, if we go to play together, my family will always think that I am afraid of carsickness.
Liu Bo: Motion sickness is not only related to individual differences of human body, but also related to the balance system of vestibular balance organs. Vestibular organ is a very important organ of human body. Just as the function of eyes is visual response and the function of nose is olfactory response, the function of ears is to produce hearing, and the function of vestibule is a very important organ to maintain human balance. The vestibule can feel the changes in the position and posture of the human head, and can adjust the posture of the human body at any time to achieve body balance. Look at a model. The vestibule is just outside the cochlea.
Moderator: How does the vestibule play a balancing role?
Liu Bo: The vestibule works all the time, just like our cochlea can hear sounds all the time. The vestibule is always aware of the position of the human body. For example, when a normal bus suddenly brakes, people who are standing tend to lean over, but they will soon control their bodies and will not fall. At this time, the vestibule is working, adjusting its body posture and achieving a balance.
Compere: Does it mean that people with carsickness have weak vestibular function?
Liu Bo: This cannot be simply understood. In fact, the vestibule of carsick people is in a disordered working state. Let's watch a series of short films: this is a beautiful diving scene. When an athlete performs graceful tumbling and jumping, it is the vestibule that accurately judges the position of the body, so as to achieve the action of balancing the body.
Moderator: So are athletes' vestibular organs more developed than ordinary people?
Liu Bo: The vestibular organs of athletes are indeed particularly stable, but at the same time, they have to undergo special training to achieve superb balance.
Host: Now let's watch a movie:
Liu Bo: This is a set of aerial flight performance shots. Pilots need to roll, dive and pull up in the air. In fact, there is no ground reference at this time, and the direction depends entirely on the vestibule.
Moderator: In a small space like a car, the scope of activities is actually not large. Why do you get carsick?
Liu Bo: If you have some abnormal feelings during the operation and some special situations during the exercise, you will get carsick, such as feeling uncomfortable in the carriage, or the surrounding air is not good, or you will often encounter some complicated traffic conditions during the operation. At this time, there will be some frequent stimulation to the vestibule. If the tolerance limit is exceeded, there will be some carsickness symptoms such as dizziness, nausea and vomiting.
Compere: Why do carsick people vomit?
Wang Linpeng: Some people with carsickness will have symptoms of vomiting. Vomiting is also a very important symptom of carsickness, which usually occurs in patients with severe carsickness. The mechanism of vomiting is that the current chamber will be dysfunctional after being stimulated, and then the autonomic nervous system will be dysfunctional. The function of autonomic nerve is to maintain normal gastrointestinal peristalsis. After the disorder occurs, there will be reverse gastrointestinal peristalsis, which will cause vomiting. In addition, there are some receptors on the inner wall of our stomach. After some bumps between the human body and the car, these receptors will be stimulated or pulled, and then reflex gastrointestinal peristalsis will occur, which will also cause vomiting.
Compere: Why don't some carsick people get dizzy when driving?
Liu Bo: This is because the vestibular nervous system is a relatively complex nerve contact reflex system. If you are in a state of high tension or concentration, you may adjust the sensitivity of the vestibule. At this time, people who usually get carsick by car may not get carsick.
Compere: Let's watch a movie: If sudden braking occurs frequently, passengers will feel overtired and depressed, and then it is easy to have carsickness symptoms.
Wang Linpeng: Other health conditions of the human body are more related to carsickness, such as not having a good rest the night before taking the bus, or being tired and depressed before taking the bus, which makes it easier to get carsick. Another example is the gastrointestinal tract before taking the bus. If you eat a lot before taking the bus, or if you take the bus after drinking, your full stomach will have some symptoms reflexively when the car shakes, causing dizziness, nausea and vomiting. In addition, if you are on an empty stomach, these conditions will also occur. Also, if you are in poor health, such as a cold or a headache, you will feel uncomfortable by car. There are also some special circumstances, such as the relative decline of women's menstrual adaptability. These internal factors will affect carsickness.
Moderator: Some netizens asked why it is not easy to get dizzy when sitting in the passenger seat, but it is easy to get dizzy when sitting in the back seat.
Liu Bo: That's true. Most people will give the passenger seat to people who are prone to carsickness. This is because the vision in the back row is not very good, so they can't look forward and will get used to looking sideways. Moreover, the space in front is relatively spacious than the space in the back, so it is easy for people with motion sickness to have a range of activities, and they will feel very relaxed at this time.
Moderator: Let's listen to what methods people with carsickness have.
W: I always have carsickness medicine in my car. As long as it's a long distance, I'll take some.
W: Sometimes it's best to prepare some essential balm and mint buccal tablets.
M: I can imagine I'm walking instead of taking a bus.
W: It would be better if we could have a good talk while in the car.
Woman: I used to pinch acupoints when I was carsick. I think it will make me feel much better.
Liu Bo: The commonly used carsickness medicine is "carsickness spirit", which is usually taken half an hour to one hour before the bus ride, because this medicine has an effective time. There are some other drugs, such as antiallergic drugs such as chlorpheniramine, but use chlorpheniramine with caution. Some of these drugs have some drowsy effects and drivers are not allowed to use them.
Wang Linpeng: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has many special methods to deal with carsickness. We can divide them into two categories. The first category is some folk remedies. For example, you can eat some pleasant snacks such as plum blossom and acid fruit candy before taking the bus, which can stimulate saliva secretion and strengthen gastrointestinal peristalsis. There is also ginger, which can be sliced and often taken out to smell when riding. Ginger can also be applied to the navel and fixed with tape. You can also use essential oil, orange peel, etc. There are also some acupoints that can also relieve carsickness by pressing and rubbing, such as Hegu point. Aim the fingerprint of a thumb at the tiger's mouth and push it forward. The place pointed by the tip of the thumb is Hegu point. When pressing, don't use too much force. You can gently press and knead until the whole palm has obvious pain. The second point is Neiguan, which is a very effective antiemetic point. On our wrist, the specific part is the position of the width of two horizontal fingers under the wrist transverse stripes, and massage slowly.
Moderator: Does psychological suggestion also have a role?
Liu Bo: There are individual differences in neural response. Some psychological adjustments can balance the stability of this nervous system, so giving yourself some good psychological hints before riding will alleviate the symptoms of motion sickness.
Precautions for riding
1, don't eat too much, don't eat greasy food, eat some digestible food early.
2. Choose a well-ventilated seat in the front row by bus, boat or plane, keep your eyes on the front, or close your eyes and don't look at anything passing by the window.
3. Keep a happy mood, calmly suggest that you won't get carsick, remember good times and happy things, listen to music and chat with people.
4. Make sure to get enough sleep before going out to prevent fatigue, and don't read books in cars, boats and planes.
Moderator: Ms. Li from Zhengzhou, 3 1 year old. My son got carsick when he was 3 years old. Does he have side effects when he takes carsickness medicine? I get carsick. Will it be passed on to the next generation?
Liu Bo: Motion sickness does have a genetic tendency, but we put special emphasis on physical exercise. If you are carsick before riding, you can adjust your life and arrange your trip reasonably before riding. Motion sickness medicine can be taken, but if you are pregnant or are pregnant, you should pay special attention to it, and it is best to follow the doctor's advice.
Moderator: Mr. Bai from Beijing is 63 years old this year. I suffer from hypertension for a long time, and my brain is short of blood supply. I want to travel to the south during the Spring Festival, but I have to take a bus often. Can I go now?
Wang Linpeng: It is really necessary to pay more attention. Many middle-aged and elderly people will have some degenerative diseases with their age, such as hypertension, coronary heart disease and stroke. Even without these diseases, with the growth of age, the functions of all aspects of the body are gradually declining. You should make appropriate arrangements according to your usual carsickness, for example, try to choose other means of transportation, such as trains, and try to arrange rest time if you must take the bus. Still have to do what you can.
Moderator: Ms. Ma from Beijing is 40 years old and my mother is 70 years old. She never got carsick before, but now she is deaf in one ear and feels dizzy in the car. How should we treat her?
Liu Bo: It is suggested that my daughter take her mother for a physical examination, because there will be some problems in the internal medicine system when she is old. Motion sickness may have something to do with deafness in one ear. Although it may not hurt the vestibule, it may be that there is something wrong with the blood supply system, or it may be that poor physical condition leads to carsickness.
