When was the cyber security law promulgated?

201165438+1On 7 October, the 24th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th NPC passed the Cyber Security Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into effect on 6 June 20 17.

The Cyber Security Law of the People's Republic of China is a law formulated to ensure cyber security, safeguard cyberspace sovereignty, national security and social interests, protect the legitimate rights and interests of citizens, legal persons and other organizations, and promote the healthy development of economic and social informatization. Network Security Law is the first basic law in China to comprehensively regulate the security management of cyberspace, which redefines "network", that is, "a system consisting of computers or other information terminals and related equipment that collects, stores, transmits, exchanges and processes information according to certain rules and procedures", with a wider meaning. As a basic law, it is essentially different from the previous provisions of various departments, and it is clearly stated that failure to perform corresponding responsibilities and obligations will be sanctioned by law. The punishment has also been refined and clarified from different angles, especially the person in charge or the person directly responsible will be punished, and those who constitute a crime will be investigated for criminal responsibility according to law.

Who will bear the main responsibility of the cyber security law? The National Network Information Department is responsible for coordinating network security and related supervision and management. The State Council telecommunications authorities, public security departments and other relevant departments are responsible for network security protection, supervision and management within the scope of their respective responsibilities and in accordance with this Law and relevant laws and administrative regulations.

Article 2 This Law is applicable to the construction, operation, maintenance and use of networks in People's Republic of China (PRC), as well as the supervision and management of network security.
