Laozi Hometown Tourist Area Introduction Laozi Hometown Tourist Area, located in Luyi County, Zhoukou City, contains many scenic spots in Luyi County. Among them, Taiqinggong Town, east of the county seat, is said to be the birthplace of Laozi, and is usually considered as the "hometown of Laozi" in a narrow sense. The debate about "Laozi's hometown" has a history of thousands of years, and Luyi County has been supported and recognized by many contemporary institutions. In history, eight emperors came to Lu Yi to worship Laozi. Laozi (about 600 BC-about 470 BC) was an important thinker, philosopher and founder of Taoism in ancient China, and was later honored as the founder of Taoism.
Nowadays, the tourist area of Laozi's hometown (a tourist area in a broad sense) has preserved the ancient buildings such as Taiqing Palace and Palace, as well as the remains such as the inscription of Tao Te Ching in Luyi County and the inscription of the continuation of Taiqing Palace in Jin Dynasty, showing visitors a true and full image of Laozi's hometown, of which two ancient buildings are the focus of the tour. Taiqing Palace is located in Taiqing Palace Town, about 5 kilometers east of Luyi County, and Mingdao Palace is located in the northeast of Luyi County. The two scenic spots are not far apart, and tickets are sold separately.
Taiqing Palace is the birthplace of Laozi. Visitors here will see a mortal Laozi like ordinary people and learn about Laozi's life. Taiqing Palace, formerly known as Laozi Temple, began to build a temple here to worship Laozi in the eighth year of Yan Xi in the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 165). Several emperors, such as Tang Gaozong, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, Wu Zetian, Song Zhenzong and Song Huizong, visited here to worship Laozi and built large buildings here. In the second year of Tang Tianbao (AD 743), it was renamed Taiqing Palace.
Mingdao Palace was founded in the second year of Tianbao in the Tang Dynasty (AD 743), and I gave lectures here. Laojuntai (also known as Ascension to Heaven Sendai) in the scenic spot is said to be the place where Lao Tzu cultivates immortality. Yingxi Hall in the scenic spot is the place where Song Zhenzong worships Lao Zi (the emperor stayed for several days). In recent years, many antique buildings have been rebuilt in the scenic area.
In addition, during February 15th of the lunar calendar, the "International Laozi Cultural Tourism Festival" will be held in Laozi Tourist Area. During the festival, there will be tourism promotion and other activities, and some stars will be invited to perform.
