(1) Health promotion has a lasting and sometimes binding effect on behavior change: Health promotion not only emphasizes increasing personal skills and changing unhealthy behaviors and lifestyles through education, but also emphasizes the role of policies and legislation in creating a supportive environment, standardizing and restraining people's behaviors. Behavior change caused by changing internal and external factors is more sustainable.
(2) Health promotion involves all aspects of the whole people and people's social life: Health promotion aims at comprehensively improving and upgrading the entire national health medical education network, not limited to a certain group of people and the risk factors of a certain disease.
(3) In the tertiary prevention of diseases, health promotion emphasizes primary prevention or even earlier: in health promotion, we should not only change people's unhealthy behaviors and lifestyles, reduce and eliminate risk factors of diseases, and achieve tertiary prevention, but also help people establish healthy behaviors and lifestyles, comprehensively improve their health quality, and promote health from the beginning.
(4) Health education is the forerunner and foundation of health promotion: Health education takes information dissemination and behavior intervention as the main means, which can help people understand the changes of policies and environment, actively participate in the formulation of public policies to promote health and environmental protection and improvement, and actively change their own behaviors on this basis.
(5) Compared with health education, health promotion integrates objective support and subjective participation: the former focuses on mobilizing social forces, while the latter focuses on the participation consciousness and level of individuals and society. Therefore, health promotion not only covers the contents of health education information dissemination and behavior intervention, but also emphasizes the strategies of environmental change such as organizational support, policy support and economic support needed for behavior change.
