The biggest feature of First Communication is its emphasis on readers' experience, which not only eliminates the obscure rigidity of communication theories, but also devotes itself to transforming them into tools that ordinary people can apply in their lives. In a simple way, the book starts with the most basic concepts such as information, meaning, language and thinking, and gradually transitions to how to know and understand the complex relationship between people, even between individuals and groups, society and culture. The author has a deep mind, and the whole book is trying to simplify the theory and make beginners have a better learning experience. (but limited to my personal knowledge and ability, the book also involves a lot of knowledge of psychology, behavior, philosophy and other disciplines. Some profound theories are still difficult for me to understand. I can only say that they are widely read, haha O (∩ _ ∩) O. )
Teacher Tie's lecture in the classroom made me know the close relationship between communication and other disciplines, but the negotiation between communication and neuroscience was also the first time I realized it in this book. Due to the cultural differences between China and the United States and the differences in translation, the influence of this book on me is more like checking and filling the gaps in textbooks and classes.
What I like most about this book is that the author gives examples at the bottom of each chapter, with intuitive references, documents, notes and illustrations. Judging from the textbook, it is very approachable and humorous. The author is not indoctrinating you with theories, but guiding you to think.
Then, as students of communication, can we also learn from it? In the new era, audience feedback is becoming more and more important, but there are still a lot of communication phenomena of "you accept my communication". Take some university courses for example. Some teachers watch PPT all semester. The whole knowledge transfer is the process of punching in and leaving work, never caring about students' feelings and ideas. So, can the spread of this kind of knowledge be called healthy spread?
The essence of communication is the generation, transmission and feedback of information. Not only production, but also communication is complete only after the steps from audience feedback to disseminator are completed.
