(2) The underground stem of "Wild Ginseng" is very thin near the root, and sometimes there is no stem mark (reed bowl), but the upper stem mark is obvious. The rhizome of "seed ginseng" is thick and short, and the stem mark is almost invisible, but the terminal bud is large.
◆ Common American ginseng fakes are:
(1) The roots of plants similar to American ginseng are also spindle-shaped or cylindrical, with a length of about 3-5 cm and a diameter of about 1 cm. There are lateral convex lenticels and lateral roots. The cross section is white and granular. No fragrance, light and slightly bitter.
(2) The branches of Korean ginseng can be processed into American ginseng. But its color is often grayish yellow, with longitudinal grooves and no thin horizontal rings. Hard texture and sour taste.
