Fudan University School of Public Health was established in 1928. It is the earliest university college of its kind in China, the first university of its kind in China, and has been in the leading position in the country for a long time. It has two national key disciplines of the Ministry of Education, such as epidemiology and health statistics, social medicine and health management, two key laboratories of the Ministry of Health and Safety, and two WHO cooperation centers, such as WHO Cooperation Center for Occupational Health Training and Research and WHO Cooperation Center for Health Technology Assessment and Management.

The School of Public Health of Sun Yat-sen University currently has a doctoral program in public health and preventive medicine and a postdoctoral mobile station in public health and preventive medicine. "Public Health and Preventive Medicine" is a key discipline in Guangdong Province-Pan Feng; Hygienic Toxicology is a key subject in two disciplines. "Preventive Medicine" is a characteristic specialty of the Ministry of Education and a famous specialty in Guangdong Province. "Medical Statistics" is a national excellent course, with national famous teachers. Guangdong Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and six research centers and bases have been established: Guangdong Institute of Preventive Medicine, Health Policy Center for Floating Population, Global Health Institute, Rehabilitation Education Research Base for Autistic Children, Science and Technology Platform for Food Safety and Public Health, South China Base of Key Laboratory for Health Technology Assessment of Ministry of Health, Same Health Research Center and Research Center for Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine.
