If the meridians are diseased, then the acupuncture prescription is not limited to the use of a certain meridian point. For example, it is not only a prescription for two meridians, but also different hands and different effects. Diarrhea can cure cold without sweating, and tonic can cure night sweats due to yin deficiency.

Clearing heat refers to the method of "clearing" heat syndrome. Warming cold refers to the method of "warming" cold syndrome. This is consistent with the meaning of treating cold with heat and treating heat with cold. "Lingshu Jing" says: "Heat causes disease, while cold persists". Where the pathogenic heat is on the exterior, or the heat closes the orifices and causes unconsciousness, acupuncture should be shallow and sudden. For example, pricking a little blood at Dazhui or well point with a triangular needle has the functions of clearing away heat, detoxifying and enlightening. If the pathogenic heat enters, that is, "yin has yang disease", you can also use the method of deep needling for a long time until the heat disappears. If the fever does not subside, you can do surgery repeatedly. For diseases in which cold pathogen enters the interior or cold pathogen is endogenous, acupuncture should be deep and the needle should be kept. Moxibustion can be added as appropriate to strengthen the body resistance and strengthen yang and warm up the cold pathogen. If the cold pathogen is in the exterior, blocking the collaterals, causing numbness and pain in the limbs, you can also shallow acupuncture and triple-edged acupuncture to bloodletting.
