Xuchang Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Xuchang Children's Hospital were founded on 1953. They are municipal maternal and child health care institutions organized by Xuchang Municipal Government, responsible for the medical treatment, health care, rehabilitation and health education of women and children in the city, as well as the guidance of maternal and child health care services in county maternal and child health hospitals and urban community health service centers.
Xuchang Maternal and Child Health Hospital undertakes three national basic public health services and nine national major maternal and child health services, including free prenatal screening, neonatal disease screening, screening for "two cancers" of school-age women in the province and screening for neonatal deafness gene chip, and strengthens the service capacity building of maternal and child health institutions in the city to ensure maternal and child safety.
