Nantong Museum was established.

Nantong Museum was founded in 1905.

This is the first independent public museum in China founded by Zhang Jianyu, the champion of the late Qing Dynasty 1905. The museum is located on the banks of Haohe River in Chongchuan District, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. The original collection is divided into four parts: nature production, history, art and education, which are displayed in the South Pavilion and the North Pavilion. Nantong Museum has won the titles of "National Popular Science Education Base" and "Jiangsu School Moral Education Base" for many times, and it is an important cultural and educational base.
