cause of a disease
Vibrio fetuses have different shapes, which are comma-shaped or S-shaped. Flagella at one or both ends. Active movement, no spores and capsules, Gram staining negative. Weak resistance to the outside world.
Most cows are susceptible to infection, underage cows are slightly resistant, and bulls can also be infected, and the infection lasts for a long time, even for life. Reproductive tract infection is mainly caused by mating or artificial insemination.
symptom
At the beginning of the disease, the cow's vaginal mucosa is red and swollen, especially in the cervical region, with increased mucus secretion, clear mucus and occasional turbidity, which can last for 3 ~ 4 months, and also suffers from endometritis. The sexual cycle is irregular and particularly long, and it takes several times to get pregnant. Fetus often dies after conception, and late stillbirth often leads to abortion. Abortion can happen at any time, but it usually happens 4 ~ 6 months after pregnancy. The abortion rate is 5% ~ 20%. There were no other adverse reactions except placenta retention. After the cow recovered from the first infection, it developed a certain immunity, and even if it mated with the infected bull, it could still conceive and give birth normally.
Bulls only have very slight transient flushing on the foreskin mucosa, and generally have no obvious clinical symptoms. But semen and foreskin carry germs.
treat cordially
After the outbreak of the disease, stop feeding for 3 months. Aborted cows, especially cows with placenta retention, can be treated according to the routine treatment of metritis, and 6 million international units of penicillin, streptomycin and erythromycin capsules can be injected into the uterus. Or intramuscular injection of penicillin, streptomycin or chlortetracycline for 5 days, but local treatment is more effective than systemic treatment. After treatment, at least one estrus interval is needed before mating.
prevent
It is best to eliminate sick cows and actively use antibiotics to treat sick cows.
