Needs of empty nesters

1 is a family demand. Some empty nesters who are separated from their children or whose children go out for a long time. Because I lived with my children before, my father was very filial and had deep feelings. Now different descendants live together, the traditional blood relationship is alienated by separation, and the intimate intergenerational relationship has widened the distance. Later generations went out to make a living for many years, and the old people often miss it. I always hope that my children and grandchildren can go home and have a look. Even a phone call, a letter, a message, a little message will comfort the elderly mentally and satisfy them psychologically. For lonely old people, if relatives and friends come to visit, it will also bring him (her) great gratitude and comfort.

This is the need of health. When people reach old age, various organs will decline to varying degrees. Some frail empty nesters are most worried about disease treatment and economic burden; It is difficult to see a doctor, which brings troubles to the elderly, especially the fear of being bedridden and unattended. Empty nesters think that death is not terrible, most afraid of being bedridden and half-dead, dragging others down. Empty nesters pray for health, which is the same psychology and desire.

3. Respect the needs. Empty nesters are generally older, older, experienced, and have made some contributions to society, hoping to be recognized, affirmed and respected by society. In particular, some widowed elderly people consider themselves "inferior", most afraid of being looked down upon, and always hope to be respected in their personality. Some retired cadres, experts, teachers and other elderly people pay special attention to the respect of others.

First, psychological aspects.

1, cognitive error. Empty nesters often think that they are marginalized and are the past population of society. A society that has a high negative opinion of itself and thinks that it is divorced from itself.

2, easy to be depressed. Because some empty nesters live in a single living space for a long time and have little contact with the outside world, their psychological loneliness is hard to say and they are prone to depression. Often manifested as: low mood, slow behavior, decreased interest, low self-evaluation. In the past, this was a great challenge to health.

3. Too sensitive. Empty nesters often react too strongly to the general stress of life. General life stress refers to the stress events that normal people will encounter in their daily lives. If we can understand it correctly, we can improve our psychological level of resisting stress. However, due to the psychological particularity of empty nesters fishing, it is easy to exaggerate some general life events, causing unnecessary psychological pressure and panic.

Second, life.

1, the disease prevention ability is weak.

With the deterioration of physiological functions, the elderly are increasingly unable to cope with daily life. Coupled with more and more diseases, the life safety of empty nesters who lack supervision and care around them sometimes cannot be guaranteed. So that some scholars pointed out that "the essence of empty nest family problem is the old age seat belt crisis." Some empty nesters are inconvenient to move, unable to take care of themselves completely, and often accidentally fall or burn, which is undoubtedly worse for the empty nesters who are unattended.

Research shows that the incidence of chronic diseases in empty nesters is high, and the top five diseases are hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis and cataract. Empty nesters generally lack knowledge of disease prevention and treatment, and because there are no children around to take care of their daily lives, their living conditions are poor, and they are often left unattended after illness. Moreover, long-term treatment will increase the financial burden of the family, make the elderly feel guilty, and lead to further aggravation and even death.

2. Social adaptability is reduced.

From the perspective of demography, the social adaptability of the elderly themselves is relatively weak. However, empty nesters themselves lack effective social support factors, which leads to their values, thoughts and cognitive abilities being out of touch with the mainstream of society. At the same time, they regard their children as the most important emotional sustenance and rely heavily on them mentally.

Third, the need for community and social care.

In the conversation with empty nesters, we can find that some empty nesters are eager to get out of their homes and integrate into the community. However, due to the lag in the construction of community basic services and the lack of cultural and sports activities suitable for the elderly, their needs for subjective integration cannot be met.

Fourth, the need for family care.

From the definition of "empty nesters", we know that the direct cause of empty nesters is that their children are not at home for a long time. For empty nesters, their most immediate need is that their children often go home to have a look, so that the feelings of the elderly have a good sustenance. At the same time, we also feel that the old people are very welcome to our arrival and interview at home. They very much hope that social organizations and groups can care more about them and let them feel the warmth of society.
