What are the conditions for Emei Mountain to become a monk?

In order to respect the freedom of belief of monks and meet their wishes, these rules are formulated in accordance with the relevant government decrees, the relevant provisions of the Chinese Buddhist Association and the Sichuan Buddhist Association, standardize management and unify standards, and combine the actual situation of the whole mountain.

I. Receiving Management

1. Prerequisite

Anyone who voluntarily becomes a monk must be an unmarried young man with the age of 18 and the age of 35, who is pure in faith, patriotic and religious, law-abiding (without any legal disputes), well-equipped, healthy (without physical defects and infectious diseases), with the consent of his parents, with a junior high school education or above (or single and without marriage disputes).

2. Necessary materials

The novice monk must provide the following supporting materials:

(1) application form and resume (including basic information of major family members)

② My valid ID card and academic credentials.

③ Family Parents' Consent Letter

Proof of my identity, good performance and marital status issued by the local town (township) government and the public security police station.

Two. Training management

1. Emei Mountain Buddhist Association will organize a unified interview, review relevant materials and conduct a unified physical examination. After passing the examination, registration will be made, and the temple designated by Emei Mountain Buddhist Association will be trained for three months. After graduation, the Buddhist Association will assign monasteries in the area for a formal inspection according to the situation of the whole mountain.

4. All monks should respect morality and teachers; Obey the arrangement, take the temple as your home, diligently study the "three studies" and abide by the "six".

3. The management of monasteries in this area should be strengthened and strict requirements should be imposed on visiting monks. Seriously organize and arrange the mage to guide and supervise the study. The monasteries within the jurisdiction should report in writing to the Emei Mountain Buddhist Association once every six months to investigate the performance of monks and the opinions of monasteries.

4. Without the approval of Emei Mountain Buddhist Association, visiting monks are not allowed to leave the temple or change the reception temple without authorization.

5. Monks officially assigned to monasteries in this area should be inspected for a period of not less than one year. Shaving your head and wearing monk's clothes are not allowed during the inspection. Upon the expiration of the inspection, the temples in the jurisdiction recommended to fill in the form, and the Buddhist Association organized the tonsure in a unified way according to the Management Rules of Nyi tonsure of Emei Mountain Buddhist Association.

3. If the monasteries within the jurisdiction think that the monks are unqualified, they must submit written opinions and report them to the Emei Mountain Buddhist Association for approval before handling them.

4. The right to interpret these rules belongs to the Standing Council of Emei Mountain Buddhist Association.

Five. These Rules shall be implemented after being approved by the Board of Directors of Emei Mountain Buddhist Association.
