Can there be lung infection after general anesthesia during operation?

General anesthesia requires tracheal intubation. After operation, patients will stay in bed, reduce activities, have low immunity and increase the chance of lung infection. But it doesn't necessarily cause lung infection.

Because of the need to establish artificial airway, general anesthesia relatively increases the chance of lung infection.

But overall, general anesthesia is the safest and most reliable anesthesia method, and the possibility of complications is the least.
