Relationship between Work Stress and Mental Health

Mental health generally means that individuals can control some behaviors by themselves and seek help from social support system when they experience less negative emotions such as depression and unhappiness, so as to effectively solve problems and experience happiness. In recent years, some researchers have studied the mental health of employees. Mental health is closely related to their working environment, and work stress has a significant impact on mental health. Previous studies have shown that there is a correlation between mental health and work stress. As for the job stressors of employees, some studies think that they mainly include seven factors: superior leadership, job responsibility, interpersonal relationship, job tasks, job nature, perfect tendency and career prospects. Some researchers also believe that work entertainment often takes up spare time, which directly increases the workload and increases the work pressure. Therefore, the relationship between entertainment stress and mental health is worth discussing.

In addition, life satisfaction is an important part of subjective well-being. At present, there is little research on employees' life satisfaction, and job burnout is a special manifestation of job stress and job stress. Some researchers believe that there is a correlation between employees' mental health and job burnout, and poor mental health is negatively related to life satisfaction.

Men's mental health is better than women's, and job burnout is lower than women's. This may be because women's psychological adjustment ability is weak, and it is easy to have adverse effects on body and mind when encountering setbacks. In addition, the results of this study show that the work stress of men is higher than that of women. By analyzing the reasons, influenced by China's traditional ideas, men should assume more social roles than women, while women should assume more family roles, so men have higher requirements for work than women. According to the survey results of marital status, married people have lower job burnout and higher life satisfaction than unmarried, widowed and divorced people, which may be because unmarried people have higher expectations of life than married people, while married people are more mature, more realistic and can rationally treat the negative effects in life. The greater the social pressure of the staff, the more serious the job burnout and the worse the mental health. This result verifies the previous research, that is, civil servants' work entertainment directly increases their workload, increases their work pressure, and is prone to psychological symptoms such as anxiety and depression. The stronger the job burnout, the worse the mental health. Job burnout has a great negative impact on people's physical and mental health, which may induce a series of physical and mental diseases such as depression, anxiety, headache, insomnia and gastrointestinal dysfunction. Once a staff member falls into job burnout, it will cause problems such as emotional exhaustion, dehumanization and reduced personal accomplishment. His emotions and feelings are in a state of extreme fatigue, his enthusiasm for work is gradually lost, his evaluation of the significance and value of work is declining, and his sense of self-efficacy and accomplishment is lost. He often feels that his work is incompetent, which will seriously affect his physical and mental health. When the above-mentioned bad behaviors appear, they are unwilling to seek help, so the bad emotions and pressures can not be resolved and released in time, which leads to the strengthening of abnormal mental state and the emergence of mental health problems.

The higher the life satisfaction, the better the mental health. Life satisfaction is an individual's subjective evaluation of his quality of life based on his own standards. High life satisfaction, positive evaluation of life and positive emotional experience, it is easy to get a good psychological state. The greater the social pressure, the stronger the sense of job burnout, and the more serious the emotional exhaustion and dehumanization. When the perceived workload exceeds the tolerance range and lacks the ability to adjust, there will be a decline in work enthusiasm, which will easily lead to job burnout in the long run.
