24-hour urine 5- hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) determination, histopathological examination, immunohistochemical and electron microscopic examination, silver staining, etc. Can be used to make a definite diagnosis.
2. Other auxiliary inspections
(1)X-ray barium enema showed that the appendix was filled with barium, and irregular circular filling defect was found in the distal lumen, and the local lumen could be enlarged. A small number of carcinoid tumors occur in the basement, and the appendix may be underdeveloped.
(2)B-ultrasound examination can find the echo shadow of the appendix, with a mass, uniform density and clear boundary. Appendiceal carcinoids are mostly less than 2 cm, located at the tail of the appendix, with low sensitivity and no specificity.
