The former Hanchuan No.1 Middle School was located in the city center, with a small scale and no room for development, so it was difficult to alleviate the demand of students attending high school at that time. At the same time, with the development of urban and rural economy and the transformation of market economy, the number of migrant workers and businessmen has increased sharply, and the problem that children of migrant workers face difficulties in junior high school and high school in urban areas is objectively placed in front of the government. In this case, the Hanchuan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government adjusted the school layout at that time.
The first is to relocate Hanchuan No.1 Middle School and expand the scale of running a school. The municipal government decided to requisition 250 mu of land in Huocheng area on the outskirts of the city to build a new No.1 middle school. The construction of New No.1 Middle School broke ground in the spring of 1997, and the whole relocation was realized in 1998 No.1 Middle School.
The second is to transform the old No.1 middle school in the city center and build "Hanchuan Experimental Middle School".

The meeting decided: "In order to solve the problem of urban students' difficulty in attending junior high school and senior high school, we agreed to the plan of the Municipal Education Commission to transform the old No.1 Middle School, that is, to transform the original Hanchuan No.1 Middle School into Hanchuan Experimental Middle School, with half junior high school and half senior high school. In order to improve the popularity of experimental middle school and ensure the students' source, its high school can be run as a branch of Hanchuan No.1 Middle School. In the future, according to the development trend of urban education, it will gradually become a high-quality and standardized junior high school. " The meeting made it clear that the administrative level of the newly established Hanchuan Experimental Middle School is the deputy bureau level, directly under the leadership of the Municipal Education Commission.
The meeting demanded that "before the relocation of No.1 Middle School, the experimental middle school must do a good job of handover." And instructed the Municipal Education Commission to pay close attention to "setting up a leading group for preparatory experimental middle schools, doing a good job in the allocation of teachers, carefully drawing up the work plan for starting school, and implementing fund raising" and other related matters.
The establishment of Hanchuan Experimental Middle School lasted five months from March 1998, when the municipal government made a decision, to September 1998, when the school officially opened. This work is completed in four steps:

Third, hire teachers.
1998 On July 20th, Hanchuan Municipal Education Commission issued "Relevant Opinions on Selecting Experimental Middle School Teachers" to all education guidance groups and directly affiliated schools, and initially decided to select 40 teachers (including middle-level cadres) from various disciplines. The selection of teachers is conducted under the auspices of the Municipal Education Commission. Teachers from villages and towns apply to be transferred to experimental middle schools, and register with the Personnel Unit of the Education Commission on July 22-28, 65438+August 22-23, 0998. Fourth, enrollment and school opening. School enrollment and teacher selection are carried out simultaneously. High school enrollment basically follows the charging policy of ordinary high schools, and students voluntarily sign up to recruit high school freshmen; Junior high school enrollment is based on the new policy issued by the government, and each student receives a construction fee of 3,000 yuan. Within the scope of the experimental primary school district, junior high school freshmen are enrolled by voluntary registration and merit-based admission. The junior high school enrollment and charging policy will be temporarily implemented for three years. By the end of August, the senior high school had 6 classes and 365 students. Junior high school enrolled 7 freshmen classes with 395 students.

So far, under the leadership of the municipal government and the Municipal Education Commission, Hanchuan Experimental Middle School has basically completed its initial construction. With the development of educational reform and the constant change of market economy, the former Hanchuan Normal School has faced the shrinking trend of 1999. The municipal government decided to divide Hanchuan Normal New District and build a new ordinary high school-Hanchuan Senior High School, in order to continue to alleviate the pressure of insufficient high schools in our city and solve the problem of insufficient junior high schools in urban areas.

The meeting decided to establish the experimental middle school as an experimental demonstration junior middle school, and its high school students were separated from the experimental middle school and transferred to the newly established ordinary high school Hanchuan High School. The enrollment scope of experimental middle schools is mainly in experimental primary schools, and the enrollment limit of Chengguan Town is 100, and the insufficient part is enrolled in other towns and villages. Its fees will continue to be based on the principle of "voluntary fund-raising", and each student will be charged 3,000 yuan. The experimental middle school pays 500,000 yuan to No.1 Middle School for relocation every year. The enrollment and charging policies of experimental middle schools will remain unchanged for three years according to the spirit of the original document.
Due to the cancellation of senior high school, the school enrolled 109 students for junior high schools in the whole city at the end of August, expanding from the original 7 classes to 9 classes.
Hanchuan Experimental Middle School was a complete middle school at the beginning of its establishment. Later, due to the adjustment of the city's educational layout, it was finally positioned as an experimental demonstration junior high school. The name of Hanchuan Experimental Middle School has been used to this day.
