World Sleep Day 20 17
World Sleep Day:
2016-3-21(February 13)
Sleep is an active process of the human body, which can restore the spirit and relieve fatigue. Adequate sleep, a balanced diet and proper exercise are the three major health standards recognized by the international community.
World Sleep Day
The purpose of "World Sleep Day" is to draw people's attention to the importance and quality of sleep and remind people to pay attention to the health and quality of sleep. Paying attention to the quality of sleep means paying attention to the quality of life, and paying attention to sleep means paying attention to health. Insomnia has become an important problem affecting modern people's health, not only affecting people's mood, but also affecting people's immune system. More importantly, insomnia is often one of the external manifestations of potential diseases in the body.
Sleep is an active process of the human body, which can restore the spirit and relieve fatigue. Adequate sleep, a balanced diet and proper exercise are the three major health standards recognized by the international community. In order to arouse people's awareness of the importance of sleep, in 20001year, the Global Sleep and Health Program sponsored by the International Foundation for Mental Health and Neuroscience launched a global activity, the focus of which was to arouse people's attention to the importance and quality of sleep. In 2003, China Sleep Research Association officially introduced "World Sleep Day" to China.
2 1 century, people's health awareness has been improved unprecedentedly, and the new concept of "having health can have everything" has been deeply rooted in people's hearts, so the problem of sleep has attracted the attention of the international community. One third of a person's life is spent in sleep, and he will die if he doesn't sleep for five days. It can be seen that sleep is a physiological need of people. As a necessary process of life, sleep is an important link for the body to recover, integrate and consolidate memory, and is an indispensable part of health.
According to the data of the World Health Organization, 27% people have sleep problems. In order to arouse people's awareness of the importance of sleep, the Global Sleep and Health Program initiated by the International Mental Health Organization launched a global activity DD in 20001year, and designated March 2 1 day, the first day of spring every year, as World Sleep Day.
According to market surveys in six cities in China, the prevalence of insomnia among adults is as high as 57% within one year. The results of the "Investigation on the Sleep Status of Doctors in Various Subjects" jointly conducted by Psychiatric Branch of Chinese Medical Association and Sanofi-Aventis showed that 19 14 doctors in 30 hospitals in China had sleep disorders in 2002. In 2003, China Sleep Research Association officially introduced "World Sleep Day" to China.
Medical research shows that occasional insomnia will lead to fatigue and uncoordinated movements the next day, while long-term insomnia will lead to inattention, memory disorder, inability to work and other consequences.
Information about World Sleep Day
Sleep is the need of life, so people can't live without it. They should make up for the sleep they lack every day, or they will be punished, just like paying off debts.
According to the results of the sleep instrument, normal people sometimes have no eye movement or only slow floating during sleep for a long time; But sometimes the eyeball moves back and forth quickly for a relatively short time, and the EEG changes are different when the eyeball moves slowly or quickly. Therefore, scientists divide sleep into two parts: non-rapid eye movement sleep and rapid eye movement sleep. For the convenience of writing, the initials of English abbreviations are capitalized in the literature. Non-REM sleep records NREM, while REM sleep records REM.
The basic law of normal sleep is that normal adults first enter NREM at the beginning of sleep, from shallow to deep, and then turn to REM after about 60 ~ 90 minutes. The duration of REM is only about 10 ~ 15 minutes, and then turn to NREM, so NREM and REM appear alternately periodically, 4 ~ 6 times a night until they wake up.
Everyone should follow the basic rules of normal sleep. If this basic rule is disordered, for example, there is no REM or NREM, or the arrangement of NREM and REM is disordered, that is, REM appears instead of NREM just after falling asleep, then it must be a sleep disorder.
1. Lack of sleep
Napoleon always wanted to save time from sleep, so he forced himself to stay up for 2 ~ 3 nights, but he regretted it, because he couldn't resist the attack of "drowsiness" and fell asleep in office hours during the day, which made him dizzy all day, with poor memory and decreased efficiency.
During World War II, due to the shortage of labor, some British military factories decided to extend the working hours of workers and work 70 hours a week. During the first 1 ~ 2 weeks, the number of products increased steadily. After the third week, it was found that with the increase of output, the rejection rate was also increasing. In the end, the qualified products produced per hour are much lower than those before overtime, so overtime hours can only be reduced, and the qualified rate of products reaches its peak again until working 54 hours a week.
On the battlefield, before a major battle, the commander will send a small team to harass the enemy's frontier positions at night, keeping the enemy awake all night. In this way, after the battle begins the next day, the enemy's combat effectiveness will be weakened by lack of sleep and fatigue.
2. Sleep deprivation
In the sleep lab, researchers tried to prevent subjects from falling asleep for a few days. As a result, all subjects complained of dizziness, inattention, obvious memory loss, irritability, easy temper, dull expression, confusion, and sometimes even depression and suicidal thoughts. Individuals can also have hallucinations, such as hearing others talking to them and seeing strange things. Sometimes they are suspicious and sensitive, and always suspect that others are trying to harm themselves, which is very similar to mental illness.
Once this experiment, called sleep deprivation, is over, the subjects will immediately fall into deep sleep, and they will suddenly enter the second stage of NREM, and then deepen to the third and fourth stages of NREM. The most special thing is that REM appears earlier, longer and more frequently, which shows that the trend of demanding compensation after REM is deprived is the strongest, which in turn shows the importance of REM to people. Any REM deprivation will produce REM compensation and rebound.
