High-quality personnel training specifications and a certain scale of personnel training have laid the position of Zhejiang Sports Department. At that time, it became one of the physical education departments of three normal universities in Zhejiang Province (the other two were the physical education departments of Hangzhou University and Zhejiang Normal University).

In 2000, the school merged six universities and technical secondary schools in Hangzhou. In 2007, in order to meet the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level by the Ministry of Education, the new leadership of the college actively responded to the requirements of the school for the evaluation work, and successfully completed the requirements of the school with the joint efforts of teachers and students in the whole hospital. At the same time, the college took the teaching level evaluation as an opportunity to promote the construction by evaluation, and further improved the rules and regulations of the college. As the school was upgraded to a university, it was officially renamed the School of Physical Education and Health of Hangzhou Normal University. At present, the Institute of Physical Education and Health has three majors: physical education, social sports and national traditional sports, and has established research institutions such as sports leisure and entertainment research center, sports health research institute and school physical education research institute. There are two master's programs: sports training and sports humanities and sociology. There are 850 students, 87 faculty members and 7 professors. The college has perfect teaching facilities, and the sports ground area is1.2000 square meters. Among them, Xiasha Campus has built 1 comprehensive indoor sports centers, including basketball, volleyball hall, swimming pool, table tennis hall, badminton hall, aerobics hall and martial arts hall. There are six laboratories of sports anatomy, sports physiology and sports health care, and a student physical fitness testing center.
