Legal basis: People's Republic of China (PRC) Civil Procedure Law.
Article 17 The basic people's courts shall have jurisdiction over civil cases of first instance, except as otherwise provided by this Law.
Article 18 The Intermediate People's Court shall have jurisdiction over the following civil cases of first instance:
(1) Major foreign-related cases; (two) cases that have a significant impact in the region; (3) Cases determined by the Supreme People's Court to be under the jurisdiction of the Intermediate People's Court.
Article 19 Jurisdiction of the High Court
The Higher People's Court shall have jurisdiction over civil cases of first instance with great influence in its jurisdiction.
Twentieth the Supreme People's Court has jurisdiction over the following civil cases of first instance:
(1) Cases with great influence in the whole country; (2) Cases that should be tried by our court.
Article 21 A civil action brought against a citizen shall be under the jurisdiction of the people's court where the defendant has his domicile. If the defendant's domicile is inconsistent with his habitual residence, it shall be under the jurisdiction of the people's court of habitual residence. A civil lawsuit brought against a legal person or other organization shall be under the jurisdiction of the people's court where the defendant is domiciled. Where the domiciles and habitual residences of several defendants in the same lawsuit are under the jurisdiction of two or more people's courts, they shall be under the jurisdiction of each people's court.
