Causes of low semen volume
The amount of semen is small, and the amount of semen discharged by a normal man at a time is 2 ~ 3 ml. If it is less than 1 ml, it is called oligospermia. Too little semen will make sperm lose vitality and function, leading to infertility. Statistics show that infertility caused by oligospermia accounts for 1.8% of male infertility. What are the causes of low semen volume?
There are several possibilities for oligospermia:
(1) Dysfunction of seminal vesicle and prostate: We know that the composition of semen can be divided into two parts, a small part is sperm and most is seminal plasma. The seminal plasma consists of secretions from seminal vesicles, prostate gland and other accessory gonads. If the secretion function is decreased due to poor development of seminal vesicle or prostate, inflammation or androgen deficiency, the semen volume will be reduced.
(2) Occlusion or stenosis of ejaculatory duct: Sperm and seminal vesicle secretions should enter the urethra and be discharged, and then the outlet is ejaculatory duct, which means that the ampulla of vas deferens meets the seminal vesicle duct to form ejaculatory duct. With the "checkpoint" in the ejaculatory duct, semen and sperm can't be discharged or reduced, so only a small amount of liquid is discharged from the independently opened prostate duct in the urethra during ejaculation, and the amount of semen is naturally significantly reduced.
(3) Urethral diverticulum or urethral stricture: Urethral diverticulum or urethral stricture will cause semen to be partially stored in the diverticulum and not completely discharged when discharged, or blocked in the stricture and not completely discharged. It is recommended to go to a professional hospital for detailed examination and treatment in time.
(4) Patients with frequent sexual life found that there was too little physiological semen. For example, some men have sex once or several times a day, so the amount of ejaculation is less each time.
(5) Some pathological oligozoospermia is caused by testicular dysfunction or endocrine disorders.
How much semen is normal?
In sexual life, many people mistakenly believe that the more semen, the better sexual function. In fact, male sexual function is mostly related to age, androgen and estrogen levels, physical strength and mental state, but not directly related to semen volume. So, how much semen is normal?
According to the standard of normal semen stipulated by the World Health Organization (WHO), a man's semen volume should be between 2ml and 7ml, but the semen volume is closely related to the frequency of sexual life.
For example, some newlyweds have frequent sex during their honeymoon. At first, they ejaculated more semen, but later less and less. There is a simple reason. Although the ability of human body to produce sperm and semen is very strong, after ejaculation 12 days can be supplemented, but if ejaculation is too frequent, there will still be a shortage of supply. Of course, oligozoospermia caused by this situation is not a disease, and there is no need to worry. Prolonging the interval between ejaculation will lead to cure. A similar situation can also occur in frequent masturbation and nocturnal emission.
If semen cannot be discharged for many times, or the amount of semen is less than 1.5 ml, it is oligospermia. It shows that there may be reproductive system infection, tuberculosis, gonorrhea, testicular dysfunction, endocrine disorder, urethral stricture and other diseases. If the amount of semen discharged at a time exceeds 8 ml, it is called excessive semen, which is often caused by seminal vesicle inflammation and pituitary gonadotropin secretion.
Does less semen affect pregnancy?
Sperm is produced by testicles. Seminal plasma is secreted by prostate, seminal vesicle gland and urethral ball gland. The seminal plasma contains glucose and protein, which are the nutrients of sperm. In addition, seminal plasma also contains prostaglandin and some enzymes. Normal semen is milky white or yellowish, and the number of sperm per milliliter is generally between 60 million and 200 million. Sperm with fluidity accounts for more than 60% of the total. Abnormal sperm should be less than 10% of the total. Sperm motility lasts for 3-4 hours at room temperature. Does less semen affect pregnancy? In fact, less is just a matter of relative probability. The volume of sperm is not the key, but the content and quality of sperm per milliliter. As long as the sperm quality is ok, you should be able to get pregnant.
Pregnancy is a systematic project, which is related to many factors of men, women and both sides. Generally speaking, pregnancy should ensure the following five basic conditions:
1. Mature normal sperm and eggs;
2. The reproductive tract is unobstructed;
3. Suitable breeding environment, normal uterine cavity and normal endometrium, and the changes of endometrium should be suitable for the implantation of fertilized eggs;
4. The right time to combine sperm and eggs. In after ejaculation, a normal person can survive for about 2~3 days after entering the uterine cavity, but its fertility can only be maintained for 1 ~ 2 days. The survival time of sperm left in vagina without entering uterine cavity will not exceed 1 day. In principle, only one ovary produces 1 egg every month, which will soon enter the fallopian tube for fertilization after being discharged. If you don't encounter sperm, 12~24 hours will lose the ability to conceive!
5. To have a certain biochemical basis, a series of biochemical changes must occur before sperm and egg combine (this is the most complicated and important). If these changes are normal, the chances of sperm and eggs can be guaranteed!
The above five basic conditions are necessary for natural conception. If one of the links fails, even if the husband and wife have extremely loving feelings, it will not help. If infertile couples want to restore their fertility, they must be under the guidance of a doctor (doctor's thinking or consideration: 1. Male reasons; 2. The woman's reasons; 3. Both reasons. ), find out the problems from these five aspects, and there is hope of pregnancy!
What should I make up if I eat less semen?
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the deficiency of seminal fluid belongs to the category of deficiency, mostly due to congenital endowment deficiency or excessive damage of kidney essence, or serious illness leading to deficiency of both qi and blood, insufficient source of kidney essence, and finally the deficiency of kidney essence, that is, kidney deficiency is the direct cause of the deficiency of seminal fluid. Kidney deficiency is generally related to kidney yin deficiency, so sperm can be supplemented by tonifying kidney yin. So, what should be supplemented by eating less semen?
The following foods are supplemented in daily life: eel, loach, squid, hairtail, eel, sea cucumber, cuttlefish and snail, followed by yam, ginkgo, frozen tofu and tofu skin. Because these foods contain high lysine, which is an essential component of sperm formation.
Men with less semen can appropriately increase the intake of some foods rich in sex hormones, such as sheep kidney, pig kidney, dog testis, bullwhip and chicken liver. The ingredients in these foods can promote the division and maturation of spermatogonia, which is very beneficial to spermatogenesis. In addition to diet therapy, we should also pay attention to maintaining regular living habits in daily life. Go to bed early and get up early, eat lightly and get rid of bad habits. You can recover slowly after a while.
