Dettol is one of the common disinfection water, and its effective component is p-chloroxylenol (also known as PCMX). It is a sign that it turns white when it meets water.
The drops are brown liquid and contain the main disinfection and sterilization component p-chloroxylenol. P-Chloroxylenol is a phenolic substance, which is irritating and corrosive to the mouth, throat and stomach.
Chloroxylenol was originally milky white, but it could not be seen because it was dissolved by pine oil and isopropanol with higher concentration. When the drops were poured into water, water diluted pine oil and alcohol, and the concentrations of pine oil and alcohol decreased, thus releasing chloroxylenol, but chloroxylenol was not very soluble in water.
