Hemiplegic patients who stay in bed for a long time should be psychologically prepared before exercise to avoid mental tension. It is more difficult for patients to start walking training. Patients should have enough understanding of their paralysis to avoid mistakenly thinking that they are rushing forward like healthy people, but falling down. Before walking, patients should also test their cardiopulmonary function. If they have palpitation, shortness of breath, dizziness, headache, heart rate exceeding 120 beats/min and breathing exceeding 28 beats/min, then they should stop exercising.
Severe paralysis can be assisted by family members. The patient's upper limb is placed on the shoulder of his family, and the family holds the patient's hand in one hand and the waist in the other. The two of them stepped on the outer lower limb first, and then stepped on the inner lower limb. If it is difficult for the affected limb to move forward, the family members can pull the affected limb forward for 5- 10 meters at a time, or they can stay still at the beginning, gradually practice walking and then train to walk independently. People with moderate or mild paralysis can practice with crutches. In the initial stage, the crutch comes out first, then the affected limb moves, and finally the heel is strengthened. When you are slightly paralyzed, crutches help to support your weight.
After walking on a flat road to practice balance, patients can practice walking up and down steps. At the beginning, someone must protect and assist.
Climbing practice: step one, hold the handrail with both hands and let the weight center of gravity fall on the healthy arm; Step 2, the healthy lower limb goes up the steps, and at the same time, the family members help the affected side to avoid falling to the affected side; Step 3: The affected limb and the healthy limb stand on a step at the same time, and then repeat the previous steps. Do not exceed 5 steps at first, and gradually increase later.
Step-by-step exercise: the first step is to hold a healthy hand forward; The second step is to lower the affected lower limb to a higher level. At this time, the assistant should take it well; The third step is to bring healthy limbs down the steps. Two feet stand on the same step or three steps and two fulcrums. Pay attention to protection when your family is around.
In walking practice, the elderly have dizziness, chest pain and cyanosis; After exercise, the heart rate 135- 140 minutes, accompanied by arrhythmia; Those who are pale and sweaty after exercise show that they have exercised too much and should stop practicing or practice less immediately.
