Daughter said she wanted to be a female psychologist in the future? Mothers are not calm.

During the May Day holiday, HarmonyOS system Zhu Xiao visited two little girls successively. One is in senior one and the other is in senior one. At the invitation of their mother, I talked with them about academic planning, career planning and other topics.

During the conversation, I learned that both children are interested in female psychologists. Asked about the reasons, they gave the same answer: on the one hand, they have contacted influential mental health teachers and psychological counselors, and feel that female psychologists are very intelligent, and their work is meaningful and challenging; On the other hand, they are all chasing the hit drama Female Psychologist based on Bi Shumin's novel of the same name, and think that the heroine Daniel Horton is still alive.

I asked them, what is the standard of "good"? Their answers are basically the same: sunshine, freedom, freedom and happiness help people grow.

When asked how much they knew about related majors, they all said they didn't want to study psychiatry for medical majors, but wanted to study psychology for psychology majors. As for whether it is appropriate to choose this major in the future, whether it is a major or a minor, my mother suggested that they listen to my opinion.

It seems that the two children have done their homework. They know the difference between psychiatry and psychology, and they all have their own tendencies. They don't want to be psychologists, they just want to be counselors, or psychological teachers and psychologists.

I asked them, with so many majors in the college entrance examination in the future, is there any other choice besides psychology?

The little girl in Grade One said that she also likes management, education and biological science. The little girl in Grade One said that she likes philosophy, law, economics, management and so on.

I asked them again, if they were asked to rank psychology majors and the above majors, how would they rank them? As a result, both little girls put psychology behind them. In other words, in their minds, psychology is just a substitute, and mothers worry too much.

In view of the fact that my mother and I are good friends and know something about their personalities and abilities, I finally made an academic plan with them: specialize in my favorite major, and then minor in psychology, focusing on the application of psychology. For example, if you want to study finance, management and education in the future, you can minor in psychology and focus on applied psychology such as financial psychology, management psychology, educational psychology and biological psychology.

Even if universities don't offer such courses, there are many learning channels if they want to learn now. For example, massively open online courses offer many psychology courses. Almost all key universities have online psychology courses.

With the direction of hard work, the eyes of the two little girls are clearer and firmer. The inner entanglement of the two mothers was also solved at once.

When they heard that their daughter's ideal was to become a psychological counselor, they were once very upset. They think that most people in mathematical psychology have psychological problems, or have had psychological problems. For example, Daniel Horton in "Female Psychologist" once fell into deep remorse and suffered from depression because her brother drowned. She used to be very autistic, which indirectly led to her parents' divorce. Thanks to my mother's persistence and strong inner resilience, I have made my life.

Moreover, mothers believe that even if there are no psychological problems now, people will either become stupid or crazy when they come into contact with all kinds of mental patients and so much mental "garbage" in the future.

It seems that mothers are biased against female psychologists. Of course, this is normal. Because in our country, although psychological counseling has attracted more and more attention with the introduction of a series of policies, there are still many people who don't understand it at the social level, especially in our ordinary people's homes. An article I wrote before, Consciousness, the basic point of changing life, also talked about a similar thing.

So, I gave my mothers a lesson to let them know what a counselor does, what is the significance of his work, what groups he faces, what functional orientation he has, what qualities and conditions he needs ... Mothers nodded frequently.

Finally, they asked a similar question: Is this psychological counseling?

I told them it didn't count. For children, it is just a consultation about academic planning; For mothers, maybe it is a kind of psychological counseling? Friends can't do psychological counseling. Would you like to remain friends with me, or would you like me to be your counselor? You can only choose one.

They all said: of course, we should continue to be friends. But you have to give us psychological counseling when necessary. I replied with a smile, that's no problem. Let's help each other.

I also recommended Zhang Defen's "Meeting the Unknown Self", which is available in the online store of Bookstore. They said they must study hard with me.
