How to protect the baby's teeth?

How to protect baby's teeth

1, check the newborn baby's mouth.

After the baby is born, you can check their mouths. Few babies are born with teeth. You can put clean fingers in your baby's mouth and gently touch your gums to see if your baby has teeth, protruding gums or slight inflammation.

Check your baby's teething regularly. Every baby grows teeth at a different speed. Some babies' teeth erupt from the gums for several weeks, and some babies can grow two teeth in a weekend. Check your baby's gums once a week to make sure you can find your baby's new teeth in time, and then you can start brushing your baby's teeth.

2. Pre-dental care

Daily oral hygiene care should be given before the baby's deciduous teeth erupt. Wrap your fingers with moist soft gauze and gently wipe your baby's gums, which will drive away the bacteria on the gums.

Since the baby is two months old, you can clean his gums at least once a day. If necessary, you can also increase the number of cleaning. But be careful not to clean too much, which will stimulate your baby's gums and cause them to be sensitive or tender.

Step 3 clean the first deciduous tooth

Wrap clean gauze around your fingertips to clean your baby's deciduous teeth. In the early stage of baby's teething, gauze can be used instead of toothbrush to clean baby's deciduous teeth.

Don't forget to wipe the tongue coating every time you wash your baby's teeth, because bacteria will accumulate there.

Step 4 start using a toothbrush

Once the baby grows a few teeth, you can buy a soft-haired baby toothbrush for the baby. Especially when the molars grow out, the tools for brushing teeth should be changed from gauze to toothbrush. The bristles should be very soft, not more than three rows. 1 year-old babies should also use toothbrushes.

Don't use toothpaste when you start brushing your teeth, just use warm water. The purpose of brushing your baby's teeth at this time is to make your baby adapt to the tools for brushing your teeth. At this stage, adding toothpaste may make the baby uncomfortable and refuse to use the toothbrush.

If the baby shows interest in brushing teeth, ask him to help you. You can encourage your baby to hold the toothbrush handle while brushing his teeth. When he gets used to it, he can brush his teeth by himself. Of course, you have to supervise him. You can brush it for him after he finishes.

If your baby refuses to use a toothbrush at first, you can brush your baby's teeth once a day. After he slowly accepts it, he will gradually increase the number of brushing his teeth until he can brush his teeth after every meal.

Tell the baby how to brush his teeth. In our mind, we think that the "standard action" of brushing teeth is up and down movement, or small circle movement, right? Actually, it doesn't matter how the toothbrush moves. The most important thing is to brush your teeth thoroughly up and down, inside and out.

It should be noted that children may only brush the visible front teeth and often ignore the invisible teeth. At this time, you can play a game of "finding hidden teeth" with them. Remember to clean up the tongue coating.

Step 5 add toothpaste

First, it is safer for babies who don't vomit to give them natural and swallowable toothpaste (usually with a fingertip toothbrush). Such a cleaning tool can be used for 3 years.

When the baby grows up, you can add a small amount of toothpaste to them. Note that the amount of toothpaste is only the size of peas.

Ask the doctor how to use fluoride toothpaste for the baby. If you decide to use fluoride toothpaste, you should reduce the amount of toothpaste, as long as it is the size of a small grain of rice at first, so as to avoid excessive fluoride intake by your baby.

When the baby can spit water at the age of 3, the dosage of fluoride toothpaste can be changed to pea size.

If the baby hasn't learned to grin and spit, remember to let him drink water after brushing his teeth. This can dilute the toothpaste that the baby has swallowed, especially the fluoride toothpaste. When brushing your teeth, let your baby's mouth slightly downward, which will also help the toothpaste to flow out.
