First, the scientific concept of health

Health refers to a state of physical and mental health and abundant physical strength. Modern people who pursue the quality of life pay more and more attention to their own health.

1948 when the world health organization was founded, its constitution pointed out that health is not just the absence of disease and weakness, but a state of physical, psychological and social adaptation. It can be seen that health includes both physical and psychological aspects, which are indispensable. To measure a person's health, we must analyze it from the aspects of physiology, psychology and behavior. It depends not only on whether he has organic or functional abnormalities, but also on whether he has subjective discomfort and socially recognized unhealthy behavior.

The mental state will affect the probability of physical illness, which has been proved by many scientific research institutions. Psychological factors are closely related to many major diseases that threaten the health of modern people, such as heart disease, cancer, cerebral hemorrhage, gastric and duodenal ulcer, hypertension, migraine, diabetes, asthma and so on. On the contrary, good health habits, lifestyle and behavioral characteristics are related to low mortality. According to American statistics, 1 in every 4 people will suffer from physical diseases due to psychological reasons during the change of life behavior, 1 in every 2 people will be hospitalized because of psychological troubles, and 1 in every 22 people will suffer from serious psychological diseases in their lives, thus affecting their work and normal life. Almost half of hospital wards in the United States are occupied by patients with mental illness. Facts have proved that mental illness is more numerous and more harmful than physical illness.

Second, what is mental health?

Broadly speaking, mental health refers to an efficient, satisfactory and sustained mental state; In a narrow sense, mental health means that people's basic psychological activities are complete and coordinated, that is, knowledge, emotion, will, behavior and personality are completely coordinated and can adapt to society. Defining a person's mental health or not should follow three basic principles:

1, whether psychological activities are consistent with the external environment. Whether a person's thoughts and actions can correctly reflect the outside world, there is no obvious difference.

2. Whether the psychological process is complete and harmonious. Whether the contents of a person's cognitive process, emotional process and will process are complete and coordinated.

3. Whether the psychological characteristics of personality are relatively stable. Under the premise of no major changes in the external environment, whether the personality characteristics such as temperament, personality and ability are relatively stable and whether the behavior shows consistency.

According to relevant research and practice, people's mental health level can be roughly divided into three levels;

1, general normal psychology. The performance is that the mood is always happy and satisfied, the adaptability is strong, I am good at getting along with others, I can better complete the activities that my peers should do at their development level, and I have the ability to bear setbacks and adjust emotions.

2. Mild mental disorder. Without the happiness and satisfaction that peers should have, I feel a little difficult to get along with others and cope with life and work independently. If you can actively adjust, or ask a psychological counselor for help, you can return to normal.

3. Serious morbid psychology. It is manifested as obvious maladjustment, and it is difficult to extricate oneself from negative emotions such as anxiety and pain for a long time, which seriously affects normal life and work. If it is not corrected in time, it will develop into a mental patient.

Third, mental health standards.

Mental health is not as accurate and easy to measure as physical health. Psychologists generally put forward mental health standards from the perspective of individual adaptation to the environment, including self-awareness, emotional adjustment, frustration tolerance, social communication ability, environmental adaptability and so on. Different psychologists have different views on the standard of mental health. From the view of psychologists on mental health, its basic connotation can be summarized as the following aspects:

1, normal intelligence level. Intelligence is the synthesis of human observation, attention, imagination, memory and thinking. Normal intelligence is the most basic psychological premise of all human activities. If the intelligence is defective, the process of socialization will be difficult to progress, and the level of psychological development will inevitably be hindered, making it difficult to survive independently. Mentally healthy people can keep curiosity and thirst for knowledge in their work, study and life, and can bring their wisdom and ability into play to achieve success.

2. Be able to understand and accept yourself. Have a proper understanding and evaluation of yourself, and be able to accept your present situation well. Confident friends are good at fostering strengths and avoiding weaknesses, are willing to foster strengths and avoid weaknesses, have low demands on themselves, and are confident and optimistic, rather than being too inferior or conceited.

3. Be able to establish a harmonious relationship with others. A person's interpersonal relationship can best reflect and reflect his mental health level. Mentally healthy people are willing to associate with others, can get along with others with respect, trust, understanding, tolerance and friendliness, can share, accept and give love and friendship, have stable interpersonal relationships, reliable friends and a strong social support system.

4. Be good at adjusting and controlling emotions. People with mental health can always maintain a happy, cheerful, optimistic and satisfied attitude and are full of hope for life and the future. Although there are also negative experiences such as sadness, worry, sadness, etc., you can vent appropriately, actively adjust and control your emotions, and don't affect your normal life because of your emotions. Emotional intelligence, which we often talk about, embodies this ability.

5. Strong adaptability to the environment. Environmental adaptability includes the ability to correctly understand the environment and the ability to correctly handle the relationship between individuals and the environment. A mentally healthy person has good adaptability to the environment. He has an objective understanding and evaluation of his environment, and always keeps good contact with the society. Life is ideal but not divorced from reality. We can face the reality, adjust our needs and desires, and coordinate our thoughts and behaviors with society.

Fourth, ways and means to improve mental health.
