LuZhou Medical College is a provincial higher education institutions in Sichuan Province, is located in Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou combined part of the country's historical and cultural city, the national health city --It is located in Luzhou City, which is a national health city and a famous historical and cultural city in Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Guizhou. The college was founded in 1951, its predecessor was the Southwest District Chuannan School of Medicine, upgraded to Luzhou Medical College in 1959, upgraded to undergraduate school and renamed Luzhou Medical College in 1978, obtained the right to confer bachelor's degree in 1982, obtained the right to confer master's degree in 1993, passed the qualification evaluation of the undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education in 1998, and approved to become a professional degree master's degree training unit of clinical medicine in 2003, and approved to become a professional degree master's degree training unit of clinical medicine in 2006. In 2003, it was authorized to become a clinical medicine master's degree training unit, and in 2006, it successfully passed the assessment of the level of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education and was rated as excellent.
(I) Scale of operation
The College has more than 12,000 full-time students, including 292 international students, 759 postgraduates, 11,382 undergraduates, and more than 200 students in adult education. The enrollment is open to 31 provinces, cities (autonomous regions), with rich student sources, good quality, and the employment rate of graduates in the past five years has been maintained at more than 90% consecutively. 2006, the majors of stomatology and anesthesiology have been included in the enrollment of the first book of students in Sichuan, Chongqing and other places.
(B) Subjects and specialties
The College now has 16 secondary schools (departments): College of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Clinical Medicine, College of Integrative Medicine, College of Stomatology, College of Nursing, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Foreign Languages, College of Pharmacy, College of Continuing Education, College of Anesthesiology, College of Medical Laboratory Science, College of Medical Imaging, College of Public **** Health, College of Biomedical Engineering, College of Law, College of Physical Education. There are 16 undergraduate majors in Clinical Medicine, Chinese and Western Medicine, Stomatology, Anesthesiology, Nursing, English, Pharmacy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Medical Laboratory Tests, Medical Imaging, Jurisprudence, Marketing, Public ***** Career Management, Social Sports and Biomedical Engineering, which cover the disciplines of Medicine, Science, Literature, Law and other disciplines. Among them, clinical medicine and anesthesiology majors are the talent training base of Sichuan Province and the first batch of brand majors in Sichuan Province; Chinese and Western clinical medicine, stomatology, and jurisprudence majors are the brand majors of our institution. The college has 9 provincial quality courses, 17 provincial key construction courses, and 27 school-level quality courses.
The college has three key laboratories in Sichuan Province: Medical Electrophysiology Laboratory, Medical Molecular Biology Laboratory, and Infection and Immunity Laboratory; one provincial basic teaching laboratory demonstration center: Molecular Biology and Immunology Teaching Laboratory Center; and one Sichuan Philosophy and Social Science Key Research Base: Sichuan Medical and Health Rule of Law Research Center. There are 2 authorized master's degree programs of first-level disciplines: Integrative Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine; 21 authorized master's degree programs of second-level disciplines: Physiology, Clinical Integrative Medicine, Pathology and Pathophysiology, Basic Integrative Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Neurology, Dermatology and Venereal Disease, Imaging Medicine and Nuclear Medicine, Otolaryngology, Oncology, Human Anatomy and Histoembryology, and Immunology, Ophthalmology, Rehabilitation Medicine and Physiotherapy, Anesthesiology, Oral Clinical Medicine, Chinese Internal Medicine, Acupuncture and Massage, Pharmacology. Among them, Internal Medicine (Infectious Diseases), Physiology, Pathology and Pathophysiology, Internal Medicine (Cardiovascular Diseases), Surgery (Vascular Surgery), Surgery (Hepatobiliary Surgery), Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Spleen and Stomach), Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Hepatobiliary) and other 8 disciplines are the key disciplines of the provincial and departmental levels and key construction disciplines.
(C) Faculty
The College has a faculty with reasonable structure and excellent quality. At present, there are 874 full-time faculty members, 504 physicians from directly affiliated hospitals who undertake clinical teaching, and nearly 2,000 part-time teaching staff from non-directly affiliated hospitals. Among the full-time faculty, there are 110 full-time faculty members with senior titles, 226 with associate titles, and 240 with intermediate titles; 312 faculty members have master's degrees or above, accounting for 36% of the total number of full-time faculty members. There are 245 master's degree supervisors and 84 part-time master's degree supervisors outside the university. There is one candidate for the first and second level of the national "One Million Talents Project", one winner of the national "May 1st Labor Medal", 25 experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council and provincial governments, 3 national outstanding teachers, 12 outstanding experts with outstanding contributions in Sichuan Province, 12 experts with outstanding contributions at the provincial, municipal and departmental levels, and 12 experts with outstanding contributions at the provincial, municipal and departmental levels. (D) Teaching Facilities
The college now has two campuses, Zhongshan and Chengbei, covering an area of 983,854 m2, with a total area of 240,674 m2 for teaching and administration, 108,455 m2 for students' dormitory, 69,386 m2 for sports ground, 9.08 million yuan for teaching and scientific research equipment, 74 multimedia classrooms, 13 voice rooms, and 13 multimedia rooms, with a total area of 1.5 million yuan. There are 74 multimedia classrooms, 13 voice rooms and 2,123 computers for teaching. The total area of the library is 28,212 m2, with a collection of 1,438,800 books (including 581,900 e-books). There are 3 directly affiliated hospitals, 9 non-directly affiliated hospitals above the third level, and 9,844 open beds in the affiliated hospitals; there are 20 clinical teaching hospitals of the third level and above and 15 other stable off-campus professional teaching internship bases.
(V) Teaching Reform
In order to meet the needs of the development of higher medical education, the College has implemented the Education and Teaching Quality Project, and reformed the undergraduate teaching at three levels: firstly, it has strengthened the construction of academic disciplines, adjusted and optimized the structure of specialties, broadened the calibre of specialties, strengthened the foundation of specialties, and revised and perfected the undergraduate personnel training program, focusing on and strengthening the students' basic knowledge, basic theories, basic skills and clinical application ability of the students; secondly, further reforming the curriculum system, teaching content, teaching methods and teaching means, strengthening the construction of quality courses and key courses, and increasing the construction and application of modern education technology; thirdly, carrying out the reform of education management of the credit system, actively exploring the innovation of talent cultivation mode, and establishing and improving the teaching management system, and further improving the teaching quality assurance and monitoring system. Thirdly, we have carried out the education management reform of credit system, actively explored the innovative talent training mode, and established and perfected various teaching management systems to further improve the teaching quality assurance and monitoring system. In the last two Sichuan Provincial Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award Review, the College was awarded one first prize, five second prizes and six third prizes.
(6) Scientific Research
The College has 16 provincial and college-level research institutes, including the Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine. Among them, as a platform for the scientific and technological infrastructure of Sichuan Province, the key laboratories of myocardial electrophysiology laboratory, the provincial key disciplines of infectious diseases and immunity research laboratory has a high level. In the past three years, the college has obtained 253 scientific research projects above the department and bureau level, including 10 national projects, 12 provincial scientific and technological progress awards, 1 provincial philosophical and social science award, 8 provincial teaching achievement awards, 4 provincial outstanding scientific research achievements in higher education disciplines, and 8 national patent authorizations; it has published 44 academic monographs, and 2,919 papers, of which 453 are in core journals and 19 are in the list of SCI. In 2006, we obtained 6 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 international cooperation project funded by Provincial Science and Technology Department and 1 major research project in the 11th Five-Year Plan for the first time, and 6 Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards (1 first prize, 1 second prize and 4 third prizes); in 2007, we obtained 4 National Natural Science Foundation projects and 4 Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards; in 2007, we obtained 4 National Natural Science Foundation projects and 4 Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards. In 2007, we won 4 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 3 Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards, and participated in the "Eleventh Five-Year" Science and Technology Support Project "Research on Comprehensive Prevention of Disease of Large Bone Joints"; the number and level of scientific research projects and awards have been increasing year by year.
The College hosts the Journal of Luzhou Medical College, which is openly distributed at home and abroad and has obtained the CODEN code of the international literature retrieval system and the statistical source of national scientific and technological journals.
In 2006, with the approval of the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Press and Publication, the first quarterly academic journal of medicine and law in the western region of China, which is a cross-penetration and combination of medicine and law, was founded and issued.
(VII) Medical Services
The three hospitals directly affiliated to the College continue to strengthen the connotation of the construction, improve the level of medical care, scientific research, teaching, medical technology and quality of service to the next level, as early as in the 1960s, the affiliated hospitals were the first to successfully carry out limb reimplantation surgery in Sichuan Province; in the late 1970s, following the West China University of Medical Sciences, the second successful organ transplantation in Sichuan Province; in 2004, 2005, the second successful organ transplantation surgery; in 2004, 2005 and 2005, the second successful organ transplantation surgery in Sichuan Province. In 2004 and 2005, the hospital successfully carried out the first case of Siamese twins separation surgery and heart transplantation in Sichuan Province, and it is the center of medical treatment, teaching and scientific research in the combined area of Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Guizhou.
(H) Foreign exchange and cooperation
In recent years, the College has strengthened domestic and foreign exchanges and cooperation, and has established long-term contacts with medical education, health care and scientific research institutes in 13 countries and regions, such as the United States, Japan, Germany, etc., and has carried out international collaborative research projects, and has made remarkable achievements in foreign medical aid. The college has appointed Prof. Wu Min, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and famous medical geneticist, as the honorary dean, Prof. Qiu Weiliu, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and famous stomatologist, and Dr. Deng Chuxia, director of Mammalian Genetics Laboratory of Diabetes, Digestive Disease and Kidney Disease Research Institute of the U.S. National Institute of Health, and famous American-Chinese scientist, as the visiting professors, and Prof. Liang Huixing, member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and famous expert in law, as the adjunct professor. Prof. Liang Huixing Through expanding exchanges and cooperation with universities at home and abroad, the college has promoted the continuous improvement of teaching, scientific research, medical treatment and management level.
(IX) Party Building and Ideological and Political Work
The college adheres to the guidance of Deng Xiaoping Theory and the Important Thought of the "Three Represents", conscientiously implements the Party's principles and policies, strengthens the Party's building, ideological and political work and spiritual civilization, and further improves the system and working mechanism for the building of grass-roots Party organizations, and contributes to the reform and development of the college.
