Fishery ship refers to the fishery administration in the fishery exclusive waters to carry out the task of fishery administration ship, also known as fishery protection ship. Mainly used for fishery patrol and supervision, inspection of fishing vessels to implement national fishery laws and regulations, protection and the environment of the waters, to stop indiscriminate fishing, illegal discharge of oil, waste and other harmful substances, to maintain the production order of the fishery and deal with disputes over fishery production; also used to supervise and inspect the implementation of international fishery agreements, to safeguard the rights and interests of the country's fisheries. Some fishery vessels are also responsible for the command of fishery production, the release of fishery information and meteorological notification, as well as medical treatment at sea and rescue in case of marine accidents and other tasks.
Equipment generally includes long-distance photography, video and audio recording equipment, and special instruments, equipment and tools for measuring water quality, inspecting fishing gear and recording the exact position and track of illegal fishing vessels. Nighttime tasks require flares and high-power searchlights, light weapons to deal with the threat of violence or resistance to fisheries inspection, and more advanced and complete navigation equipment. Large and medium-sized fishing vessels are equipped with radio, radar, radio direction finder, sound detector, scanning sonar, satellite navigation and communication equipment. Some boats are also equipped with high-speed dinghies and helicopters.
