DICOM is Digital Imaging and Communications Standard. In the development of medical image informatics and the research process of PACS, due to the differences in medical equipment manufacturers, resulting in a wide range of medical image storage formats and transmission methods related to various devices, making the exchange of medical images and their related information between different systems and applications seriously impeded. To this end, the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the National Electronic Manufacturers Association (NEMA) recognized the urgent need to establish a standard to regulate the exchange of medical images and their related information, and the DICOM (Digitalimaging and Communications in Medicine) standard was created in this context.
