Why do lithium batteries need to be equalized? What is the reason?

The premise of equalization is pairing, battery packs need to be paired to keep the internal resistance and charge/discharge curves of each cell basically the same.

If they don't, one cell will be discharged first, and the others will charge it, resulting in a lower overall discharge efficiency. This battery will also be the first to break down and cause the entire battery to fail.
