1943 Asahi Copper Ammonia Fiber Corporation merged with Nippon Nitro Explosives Corporation to form Nippon Nitro Chemical Corporation.
1946 The name was changed to Asahi Kasei Kogyo Co.
1949 Stocks listed in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.
1952 Established Petrochemicals Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Dow Chemical, and the plant in Kawasaki became operational.
1957 Asahi-Dow begins production of polystyrene.
1959 Mass production of acrylic products begins (production ceased in March 2003)
1960 Asahi-Dow introduces cling film (Saran Wrap?) to the Japanese market.
1967 The construction materials business was officially launched with the production of high-pressure lightweight concrete (Hebel?) panels.
1972 Production of vinyl begins at the plant in Mizushima.
The residential construction business begins with the construction of (Hebel Haus?) steel-framed houses.
1974 The medical equipment business begins in earnest with the establishment of Asahi Medical Devices Corporation (now Asahi Kasei Medical Devices).
1980 The electronic parts business for electronic devices officially begins with the establishment of Miyazaki Electronics Corporation (now Asahi Kasei Electronics). Production of Hall sensors begins.
1982 Asahi-Towers is merged into Asahi Kasei Industries.
1983 Semiconductor business formally begins with the establishment of Asahi Microsystems Corporation, a joint venture. With 100% ownership of the company in 1984, the name was changed to Asahi Kasei Microsystems.
1992 Pharmaceutical manufacturer Toyo Brewery Co. merged into Asahi Kasei Industries.
2001 Renamed Asahi Kasei Corporation.
2003 The corporate structure is transformed into a holding company, with the core business split into seven core operating companies.
2007 Asahi Kasei Lifestyle Products was merged into Asahi Kasei Chemicals and changed to six core operating companies.
