HELLO GANSS is GANSS's peripheral brand that focuses on high-end mechanical keyboards, and earlier released two series, HS108T and HS87D, with five styles of white feather, white peach glaze, fragrant snow, and obsidian. Recently, HELLO GANSS has launched the HS98T series, priced at $799, with 2.4G, Bluetooth and wired tri-mode connection, integrating the nine-key grid, arrow keys and numeric area, retaining the 104-key function, shortening the length of the keyboard, leaving more space for the operation of the mouse area, which is very suitable for small desktop gamers and laptop users.
The product packaging is printed in color, and the box is wider, mainly due to more accessories inside. The side of the package is labeled with the keyboard version and axis for identifying the product model.
To see how many accessories the product has, a large table full of dust cover, steel wire key puller, shaft puller, data cable, product manual, warranty card, USB-TC adapter, opaque add-on keycaps, shaft holder cover, two AA batteries, 98-key translucent keycaps, and lo and behold, a **** 11 pieces. It should be mentioned that the full set of translucent keycaps below is added to a cat end of the official GANSS fan group to send, in addition to 100 yuan off.
USB-C cable, rubber material, wire diameter medium, texture softness is also medium, with magic tie. USB-C interface is widened design to increase the solidity, USB-A interface is similar to Apple's Lightning interface, also support positive and negative pull plug, quite interesting.
USB-TC adapter, if your laptop doesn't have a USB-A port, you can use this to adapter. Interestingly, if you have a 2.4G wireless headset, you can also connect this to your phone, plug and play, you can directly listen to songs and play handheld games.
There is one steel wire key puller and one shaft puller, so if you want to change shafts and keycaps at the same time, two people can operate together.
The HS98T utilizes the common 98 alignment, removing the nine-panel grid and moving the arrow keys to the lower right corner of the main key area. The keyboard supports Win, Mac, and Android, with the key combination FN+A set to Win system mode and FN+S set to Mac system mode.
I have the White Feather model, with white, light blue, and orange keycap combinations, and the default match is the opaque model.
The keyboard is about 379mm long and 132mm wide, which is slightly longer by one standard key size compared to the 87 alignment.
Compared to the 108 configuration, the keyboard is three standard keystrokes shorter, leaving more room for maneuvering in the mouse area.
The HS98T removes the nine-panel grid and merges the functions into the numeric area, which is accessed via the FN key combination. The four buttons in the upper left corner are separate and do not require key combinations.
The keyboard case is made of white plastic with a woodgrain decorative texture, and the keyboard indicator is laid out to the right of the ESC key.
There is a HELLO GANSS logo on the left side of the front of the keyboard, and next to the logo is the keyboard mode toggle key, which is 2.4G, wired, and Bluetooth from left to right.
The bottom of the keyboard has trapezoidal grooves, the front of which is higher than the back, giving it a natural slope when laid flat. A silicone anti-slip pad is attached to each of the four corners, and the top is equipped with a three-phase wire slot to make it easy to route the keyboard in different directions.
The USB-C port is reinforced with a ladder-type finish for added stability and durability, and the USB-A port is a faux-Lightning connector that supports forward and reverse unplugging.
The keyboard is powered by two AA5 batteries, with a battery life of about 60 days. 2.4G wireless receiver is hidden underneath the bracket, and without paying attention to it, you really don't notice it, and it is recommended to mark it with text. The keyboard bracket adopts a high-low two-stage design, which can realize three heights: flat, small bracket, and large bracket to adapt to different height requirements, and the end of the bracket is processed with non-slip.
The keyboard keycaps are in OEM height, the picture above shows the effect of flat placement without bracket, which can be used with a hand rest.
This is the effect of the large bracket when it is supported, and it is more comfortable to use it without a hand rest. I usually put it flat when I'm gaming and stand it up when I'm typing.
The HS98T is available with both the TTC Gold and TTC Quick Silver axes, both of which are now star axes with great reputation. The TTC Gold axes use a spotlight lens, while the TTC Quick Silver axes have a concave diffusion lens, and are both linear axes.
TTC fast silver axis from Huizhou genuine Koden, compared with the conventional silver axis, using a double segment spring, with fast trigger, prevent false contact characteristics, axis body parameters are in the above picture, here will not repeat.
The HS98T supports hot-swapping, and is compatible with 3-pin and 5-pin axes, as well as C-axis, which can be easily unplugged with the included shaft puller. The two axes pictured above for the trial swap are the TTC Old Gold Dust Axis and the TTC Moon White Axis. The Old Gold Dust Axis has a concave lens like the Quick Silver Axis, and this time around, the HS98T uses a convex polygonal lens, which will make the lettering on the keycaps brighter.
The long keys of the keyboard are designed with satellite shafts, which are tuned pretty well, and the satellite shafts are lubricated at the factory.
The keyboard uses PBT two-color injection molded keycaps, which are more wear-resistant and less prone to oiling than ABS. The keycap font is slimmer, closed font, and positioned upwards. The thickness of the key wall is medium, the edges are handled quite cleanly, and the water spout is not big.
This is added to a cat end of the official GANSS fan group sent 98-key word through the keycaps, if the long-term use of wired mode, you can replace this set of word through the keycaps, RGB effect is a little more dazzling.
This small white cover in the annex, at first did not know what to do. When I was changing the shaft, I suddenly realized the purpose of this thing.
After unplugging the keycaps and shafts, the keyboard will be left with the base, and after installing this small cover, the keyboard can be turned into a 97-key, 96-key, 95-key, and so on, and up to 6 keys can be replaced to become a 92-key.
The keyboard is backlit with RGB backlighting, but only in wired mode. The wireless mode uses dry batteries after all, and if it supports backlighting, it's too much of an impact on battery life.
The keyboard's default keycaps are opaque, and when the light is turned on, the light spills out from around the keycaps, mainly acting as an ambient light.
At night, when the room light is turned off, you can see the overflow ambient light effect, and you can switch between multiple light effects via FN+7. Adjust the brightness of the light with FN+ and the speed of the light dynamics with FN+.
Replacing the top row of keycaps with translucent keycaps, we can compare the lighting effect, and at night, the translucent keycaps are more clear. The keycaps are slightly tighter, so be careful when pulling them out. Of course, if you don't turn on the backlight during the day, the opaque fonts are a bit clearer.
Looking at it again with the room light off, it's clear that in this case, the word-through keycaps are better suited for use at night or in poor lighting.
The keyboard supports full keystrokes in wired mode, five keystrokes in 2.4G and Bluetooth wireless mode, and is said to be upgraded to full keystrokes in wireless mode later.
The keyboard supports wired and wireless triple mode, so if you're playing a game, it's recommended to go wired for the lowest interference. If you want to use wireless, we recommend choosing the 2.4G mode, and it's best to plug the receiver into the front panel of the host to maximize the distance and reduce interference. I tried playing CSGO for a few days, I have to say, TTC Quick Silver is still quite suitable for playing shooting games, weapon switching, positioning, jumping boxes, the operation is very comfortable, the feeling is dry and does not drag. So, if you play FPS shooting games, try to use the linear axis, the previous linear axis is also on the black axis, red axis and other very few axis body optional, now the rise of the domestic axis, so that we are fortunate enough to be able to experience more feeling of the linear axis body, and slowly will feel that the cherry axis is not so fragrant.
HELLO GANSS HS98T with 98 keys, the official price of 799 yuan, during the double eleven has been reduced to 649 yuan, coupled with a full of 299-10 coupon, the actual hands of 639 yuan, the strength is still quite large. HELLO GANSS HS98T key layout using the regular 98 allocation, if you want to replace the other keycaps, it is still very convenient. Of course, the HS98T has five color schemes, if you like to change the keycaps, it is recommended to choose White Feather or Black Obsidian, the shell is white or black, with other color schemes keycaps will be a little more coordinated. The keyboard is connected in three modes: wired, 2.4G, and Bluetooth, and can be adapted to desktop computers, laptops, tablets, cell phones, and other devices. If you want to use the wired mode and the device does not have a USB-A port, you can use the free adapter to convert the connection.
