How to repair leaking water heater pipes

1. Simple water heater pipe leakage is easier to deal with

If you find that the water heater water pipe is simply leaking, it is not difficult to deal with it. You can buy anti-seepage cloth strips to cover the leakage. Wrap the area or use tape to seal it, and then try it. If there is no problem, it will be fine. But if it still doesn’t work, then you need to call in a professional to repair it.

2. Water heater water valve or connection is leaking

If you find that the connection of the water heater is leaking, especially the water valve, or the connection is leaking, you need to think about it. If you think about whether the water pipe connection is loose, then you only need to tighten it. If it can't be twisted, use raw tape to wrap it, and then stick it with tape.

3. The connection between the hot water pipe, water tank pipe and water tank is leaking

If you still can’t find the leak, you need to conduct a detailed inspection of all parts of the water pipe. Check everything from the water heater outlet pipe to the water tank pipes, interfaces and other parts in detail.

If there is a leak between the water tank and the water tank interface, you can usually only ask a maintenance technician to seal it with silicone or replace the sealing ring. Another way is to take off the water tank, ask the maintenance technician to weld it on, and then install it again.

Another reason why the water heater pipe leaks is that the water pipe and the joint are leaking. At this time, corresponding measures need to be taken according to the type of water pipe. Tighten it if it should be tightened, and weld it if it should. But generally if the process is more complicated, you can ask a maintenance master.

Extended information:

Regularly check whether there are leaks at the various joints of the gas supply pipeline, whether the rubber hose is intact, and whether there are cracks due to aging. Once found, it should be dealt with and replaced in time.

According to the product instructions, replace the battery regularly, usually once every 4 months. Pay attention to whether the water heater is leaking, and deal with it promptly if found.

Clean the water inlet filter regularly. If the water heater outputs less water and cannot ignite, dirt may block the filter. You can disassemble the cold water inlet connection and take out the filter for cleaning.

After the water heater has been used for a period of time, you can open the water heater cover and wipe the ignition needle and flame sensor needle with a dry cloth. Be careful not to wipe too hard, otherwise the position of the ignition needle or sensor needle will be moved, affecting use.

Clean the dust from the heat exchanger (i.e. water tank) in the water heater every six months. If the water heater is out of service for a long time, be sure to turn off the air valve, take out the battery, open the antifreeze device (the instructions indicate the location of the device), and drain the water stored in it.
