International online news: China's Ministry of Health spokesman Deng Haihua said on September 9, confirmed by the World Health Organization, Xinjiang Hotan imported epidemic wild viruses from Pakistan; so far, other regions have not found imported epidemic.
Deng Haihua said that as of Sept. 7, the cumulative total of nine confirmed polio cases reported by the Xinjiang Department of Health had all occurred in the Hotan area, with one death and the remaining eight still under treatment and recovering from non-life-threatening illnesses.
He said Xinjiang is moving forward with the prevention and control of the epidemic in an orderly manner, and has already completed active searches for cases, emergency vaccinations for key populations as well as other prevention and control work, and the local government has also decided to carry out two rounds of intensive immunization work immediately.
