Common causes of fever:
1 Postoperative infection, need to do lumbar puncture examination, cerebrospinal fluid routine, if the cerebrospinal fluid in the leukocytes is higher than 10, can be diagnosed, and then every day lumbar puncture treatment, at the same time, add the antibiotics through the blood-brain barrier, such as ceftriaxone, if the situation is serious, you can apply the meropenem, but the price is more expensive.
2 Subcutaneous effusion, because the posterior occipital muscles are not tightly bonded to the skull, the cerebrospinal fluid leaks out to the sub-muscular layer, causing irritation of the dura mater. A pressure dressing after puncture and suction is sufficient.
3 Intraoperative residual blood, resulting in bloody cerebrospinal fluid, usually accompanied by infection, the treatment is the same as postoperative infection.
Post-operative fever is a common complication in neurosurgery and cannot be avoided by any neurosurgeon in any hospital. Since the surgery can be performed on a trial basis, it means that the neurosurgery department has good qualifications, and you just need to listen to the doctor's advice. Fever usually returns to normal in about 1 week or 10 days. Other than that, fever can be caused by low immunity, upper respiratory tract infection and urinary tract infection after surgery.
