This chronology is the brainchild of all the "researchers" in the Plot Research section, and is written for those who don't know the plot of Half-Life. The Portal storyline has been avoided because it is vague; the OP storyline is highly controversial, and although it is not avoided in this manual, readers should be aware that the OP storyline is not the main HL storyline, and is a major subversion of the valve-created storyline, and therefore the OP storyline can be ignored, especially since the OP storyline is generally not discussed in the same context as HL2's. It is recommended that readers who have already played the game, and who are not familiar with HL2, should read this history sheet and use it as a reference point for their own storytelling. Readers are advised to read the game if they have already played it, but do not understand the plot. With regard to the chronology, the game has not been explicitly stated, and the chronology of the old timeline has a great deal of possibilities, so we will only list the events in order, eliminating the exact year, and the information we know so far is that the game deals with the years between the late 90s and 200-.
(a) Before HL1 (including training missions)
1. Black Mesa Base's research program
Before the events of Black Mesa, Black Mesa Base developed the "time transfer" technology and used it to discover the existence of another dimension, Xen space. -The existence of Xen space. Scientists noticed that there were many strange phenomena and things in Xen space, and also discovered that there were alien biological activities and special minerals on Xen, so the Black Mountain Base sent a large number of exploration teams to Xen through space-time teleportation to collect samples of all kinds of organisms and crystal minerals, and these biological samples were sent to the Biological Laboratory of the Black Mountain Base to conduct research, while the crystal mineral samples were researched by the Laboratory of Anomalous Materials. Research was conducted by the Anomalous Materials Laboratory. One of the crystal mineral samples obtained was selected by the Black Mesa base (the sample may have been provided by gman) to be analyzed using the Anomalous Materials Laboratory's antiproton spectrometer, which is of extremely high purity.
2. Gordon Freeman hired
Gordon Freeman, the protagonist of the Half-Life storyline, is a theoretical physicist who received a doctorate in philosophy from MIT, where Isaac Kleiner was his mentor. After graduating from MIT, Gordon traveled to the University of Innsbruck in Austria to continue his studies. By this time, Kleiner had moved to the Montenegro base and, through the Montenegro base's talent referral agency, recommended that Gordon be hired as a new employee, and in May of 200X, sent Gordon a letter of employment. Shortly thereafter, Gordon joined the Black Hills base.
Gordon's workplace was the Anomalous Materials Laboratory in Area C of the Black Mesa base. Before engaging in his official duties, he was trained in the use of a HEV IV (Roman numeral 4) type suit, which allowed Gordon to become an operator in an analytical experiment to analyze samples of high-purity crystals.
(II) HL1
1. Series **** vibration
March 16th was the date of the experiment to analyze the crystal samples at Black Mesa Base. On the morning of this day, there was a malfunction in the computer system of Area C, coupled with Gordon's tardiness, so the experiment was carried along half an hour later.
Gordon arrives at the Experiment and Control Room in Area C before the samples have in fact been delivered to the lab. After obtaining the HEV suits, he learned from the other scientists that there were abnormal fluctuations in the data from the experimental instruments and that they were not meant to be used for this experiment, but the scientists ignored these details because the management wanted to get the experimental data earlier, so the scientists had to go ahead with the irresponsible experiment. Some scientists had thought of the possibility of series **** vibration before the experiment started and gman had made hints to the experimenter Eli Vance, but none of these stopped the experiment from going ahead.
The moment Gordon pushed the sample into the spectrometer, the tandem **** vibration phenomenon occurred, generating a huge space-time rift between Earth and Xen, allowing a large amount of organic material from Xen to enter the Black Mesa base. At the same time, it led to a serious explosion and collapse of some of the facilities of the Black Mountain Base.Area C and Area B were the first to lose contact with the rest of the lot.
The management office of Montenegro did not realize the seriousness of the incident at first, and it was only when the **** vibration phenomenon gradually extended to Area D that the management office organized a retreat and sent out a distress signal to the outside world.
Gordon survived the disaster by being transported to Xen when it happened. He gets help from Eli, who tells him to get to the surface immediately.
2. Military Involvement and Invasion of Alien Forces
The government sends troops into Black Mesa to enforce the so-called Containment Policy, which is to kill all living things, and to arrest instead of exterminate the main perpetrators of the accident. Gordon was on the arrest list. Gordon first clashed with the army at the material storage facility in Area D. Gordon reaches the surface for a time, but goes back underground due to the army's airborne operations, and is told by a scientist that only the Lambda Science team in Sector F is now able to resolve the incident. Gordon can only reach Fortress λ through the Sector E railroad system beneath the rocket test chamber.
The military has taken control of the railroad system in Sector E, but the harassment of the Xen creatures has caused some of the positions to be abandoned, allowing Gordon to exploit the situation. The military has also issued an official order allowing the use of force against Freeman.
Gordon is in Sector E and fires a rocket that sends Team λ's satellite into the sky. The satellite not only allows Team λ to observe Gordon's progress, but also prepares the way to open a portal between Earth and Xen. On the way out of the launch center, Gordon was captured by two soldiers, who, due to the soldiers' unauthorized handling of Gordon, consequently allowed Gordon to escape and enter the old industrial area, from which he was able to enter the bio-lab.
At this point, the army from Xen begins an invasion of the Black Mesa base, with a large alien army arriving on Earth through a portal from Nihilus, and the military is instantly thrown into chaos. Gordon, on the other hand, once again takes advantage of the military's chaos and enters Fortress λ directly from the ground. Due to the fact that λ Fortress has been completely sealed by the scientists, and due to the "interdimensional blocking system" inside the fortress, neither the military nor the Xen army were able to enter.
The army soon lost control of Black Mesa, and had to retreat, in a panic, leaving many of their soldiers in Black Mesa. Gordon's arrival at Fort λ coincided with the army's retreat.
3. The Death of Nihilus
After Gordon arrives at λ, the blockade system of Fortress λ malfunctions, and the Xen army is able to teleport into Fortress λ. After turning on the pumps in Fortress λ's main reactor, Gordon broke through the alien blockade and reached the top of the reactor, which used to be the supply storeroom for the First Observation Group.
Team λ advises Gordon to go to Xen via their transporter, as Team λ has detected that the portal used by the Xen army to invade was created by a single life form, Xen's leader, Nihilus, and Gordon can only save the disaster by killing it.
With that, Gordon is sent to Xen and, in the end, kills Nihlens and frees the Vordigan race.
At the end, gman finally talks to Gordon face to face. He asks Gordon to work for him, or face a "war that can never be won". Gordon has no choice but to accept the G-man's demands in order to save his life, and the story of HL1 comes to an end.
We believe that the g-man used a form of cryonics to protect Gordon, and Gordon went into a deep sleep.
(C) The Excess of HL1 and HL2
The excess between HL1 and HL2 was close to 20 years.
1. The Fall of Civilization
In the aftermath of the Black Mesa event, the Xen creatures continued to Manjen, rapidly expanding throughout the world and bringing chaos to humanity.
What really brought down human civilization was not the Xen creatures, but an interstellar alliance from other dimensions, the Combine. for some reason, the Combine discovered Earth and began planning an attack on it, preparing to colonize it and reduce humans to slaves. After careful preparations by the Combine, a great war breaks out.
Combine launched an attack on Earth, and after the war lasted only seven hours, humanity suffered a crushing defeat, and Brin advised humanity to surrender as soon as possible to prevent the risk of extinction. As a result, the Combine army (Combine's army) took over Earth in just 7 hours. Bryn became a puppet of the Combine, and was responsible for "managing" the planet.
Where there's oppression, there's resistance, and humans don't take slavery from another species lightly. The human race has organized itself into a resistance force to fight against the United Army, and the scientists who survived the Black Mesa incident, such as Eli and Kleiner, are the leading force of the resistance force. The Vortigauns are also dissatisfied with the rule of the United Army, and as rational beings, they have allied themselves with the human race to **** together against the tyranny of the United Army.
2. Combine's Rule
After taking control of Earth, the Combine began a series of colonization measures.
They began by renaming the human cities as City 1, City 2 ...... During the HL2 period, City 17 was established as the capital city, where the Combine's home base was located. In order to centralize the human survival strongholds, the Combined Army placed defenses around the major cities to prevent Xen creatures from invading the cities, and the outside world was left to flood with Xen creatures, so that most people actively chose to live in the cities, and the outside world became a space for the Xen creatures and the Resistance.
The United Army also set up a "Reproductive Inhibition Force Field", which prevents humans from reproducing and deprives them of the right to reproduce, so that they can slowly become extinct; they added a special substance into the drinking water of humans, so that their memories will gradually fade away, which is favorable for humans to comply with the United Army; and at the same time, the places where humans live have to be decided by the United Army, and they are constantly moved back and forth. , being constantly moved back and forth and unable to settle down; those who resist the JSA are likely to be transformed into ghosts by the JSA after being arrested and serve the JSA; Brin instills the idea of obedience in humans through various media ...... The Combine also modified headhunting crabs for use in purging the resistance. They prevented the parasitized zombies from eating, and when the host died, the headcrabs could detach and find a new host. When the Headhunter Crab cannonballs are poured into a Resistance area, they can turn all the locals into zombies or be killed by zombies. The zombies are unable to eat and will slowly starve to death.
The United Army is also known as the Armored Core, and there are many different types of Armored Core units, so I won't go into detail here.
(IV) HL2
1. Return of the Heroes
Gman awakens Gordon once again, allowing Gordon to save the human civilization that has been trampled by Combine.
Gordon is sent to the train station in City 17, where he meets his former friend Barney from Black Mesa - now working undercover as a Resistance agent for the National Guard. Barney tells Gordon to go to Kleiner's lab. On the way, a Union search is underway in Gordon's neighborhood, and it is Alex, Eli's daughter, who saves Gordon. This brings the four of them together, Kleiner, Alix, Barney & Gordon, where Gordon gets his new suit - a HEV V (it's Roman numeral 5, not V) type of protective suit that Kleiner has improved into. It happened to be the same day that Kleiner and Alex finished assembling the time transporter, and they decided to use it to send Alex and Gordon to Eli's lab, but as a result, while teleporting Gordon, the transporter malfunctioned, the Combine discovered Gordon, and Gordon had to walk down the canal on foot to Eli's lab now.
Immediately after the Combine discovered Gordon, a large number of troops were dispatched, and the entire Citadel was placed under martial law. Since Gordon was seen along the railroad, almost all of the city's National Guard was sent to the railroad and the canal, ready to catch Gordon at a moment's notice, and many of the Resistance's underground stations here were cleared by the Combine while they had the chance.
The National Guard didn't manage to stop Gordon, and instead, were hit hard. Gordon, with the help of the Resistance, gets a steamboat. Gordon drove the steamboat, passed several barriers set up by the Combine, and finally arrived at Black Mountain Base East, Eli's laboratory nestled near the old waterworks. Here he meets Eli, Alex & Mossman.
In Black Mesa East, Gordon acquired the Gravity Gun. Just as Gordon was practicing using the gravity gun, the Combine launched a surprise attack on the area, and since the tunnels were blocked, Gordon had to travel alone to Leveringholm, a city that had been taken over by zombies. With the help of the local Father Gregory, Gordon escapes Levenholm and makes contact with the Resistance in the outside world.
2. The Resistance
Gordon, who emerged from Levenholm, helped the Resistance forces stationed at the docks to start a firefight with the regular forces (the Combine had already sent out the regulars at this point, as things kept getting worse). With the help of the Resistance, he uses the radio to talk to Alex and learns that Eli has been arrested and is being held in the large prison, the Nova Mines. Alex suggests that Gordon take the beach road to reach the Nova Mines, and Alex enters herself using a Union Army train, and the two agree to meet in the Nova Mines.
Gordon drove the scout car provided by the Resistance across the beach and onto Highway 17. The Union regulars set up a number of checkpoints along the road to intercept Gordon, but all failed.
By the time they reached Kleiner, a week had passed, though they couldn't feel it themselves.
In that week, the Resistance has started an uprising to save Eli, who has moved to the Citadel, and City 17 is already in the midst of battle, with the Resistance doing their best to lunge at the Citadel. Alex and Gordon join the fight. In the alleyway battle, Alex is unfortunately arrested.
Gordon first crosses several blocks to meet up with Barney, then helps Barney by turning off the suppression equipment in the Combine's armored core building, allowing more Resistance troops to pass through the blocks heading to the castle, and finally, Gordon, with the help of Dog, enters the castle.
3. The Death of Brynn
Shortly after Gordon enters the castle, he is discovered by the Combine, whose weapons confiscation system confiscates all of Gordon's weapons, but the gravity gun is transformed into a more powerful weapon. Using the new gravity gun, Gordon rampages through the city and eventually reaches a pod relay station. Freeman realizes that it's going to be really hard to find Brynn on foot in this huge castle, and if he wants to take care of Brynn before Brynn executes Eli and Alex, the only way to do it is to turn himself into a prisoner and have Brynn voluntarily take him to his office and then figure out what to do. Even though it was dangerous and there were many variables, it was the only way to do it at the moment. So he resolutely chose to enter the pod and was found by the Combine to be taken to Brin's office.
Here, Gordon met Brynn, Mossman, and Eli and Alex, who were being held in the pod, and Brynn was going to send Alex and Eli through the portal to the world of the Combine, and it was at this point that Mossman betrayed Brynn due to his feelings for Eli, and Brynn panicked, and accidentally used his gravity gun to shoot down the pod that held Gordon and the others, but he didn't realize that the gravity gun had so much power that it actually destroyed the pod, there was nothing he could do but drop the gravity gun and escape, he planned to use the portal to escape to the Union side.
Alex and Gordon went after Brynn, and Gordon used the gravity gun to destroy the dark energy reactor at the top of the castle, and the top of the castle exploded, and Brynn's teleportation platform lost traction, and fell to his death from the top of the castle. Just moments after the big explosion, time freezes, and the gman reappears, makes a brief comment to Gordon and disappears.
(VI) EP1 & EP2
1. Destroying the Castle (EP1)
At the beginning of EP1, when the castle explodes and the gman is about to "freeze" Gordon again for later use, the Vortigaunts accidentally enter the space between them and "convince" Gordon to "freeze" him. The Vortigaunts accidentally enter the space between them and "convince" Gordon to turn his back on the gman, and then, in frozen time, rescue Alex and Gordon from the Big Bang. (Since the development company didn't intend to develop the aftermath of the heist aka EP1 when they developed HL2, there's a small error in plot articulation here) When Gordon awakens, he's dug out of the rubble by Dog and is given a gravity gun and reunited with Alex again (and Alex and Gordon have a very nice hug~ ).
Alex and Gordon made contact with Kleiner and the others, and after obtaining the information, infiltrated the Citadel again, shutting down the core to gain more time to evacuate the citizens. And copied all of the data that the Combine was preparing to transmit, which led to the Combine sending a large number of troops to hunt down Alex and Gordon.
Alex and Gordon had hoped to use the underground train in the castle to escape directly out of the city without having to flee on foot like the other civilians. But halfway through, the tracks were damaged and the train was scrapped, meaning that not only did the two have to escape on foot, but they also had to return to the surface from an unknown depth underground first (stealing a chicken and not making it to the surface). So, the two escaped into the underground parking lot of C17, which is already controlled by zombies, and, due to Gordon's destruction during HL2, the Union's defenses around C17 have collapsed, and a large number of ant lions have entered the C17 as well as the underground parking lot of the C17, adding to the difficulty of Alex and Gordon's escape.
However, the two of them manage to escape the parking lot, reach the surface, and turn with Barney and the others. They hope to evacuate more citizens. For their part, the Union Army has deployed a large number of troops in the neighborhoods around the hospital and train station to stop the Resistance's plans. Remaining members of the National Guard in the Union Army also joined in to stop Freeman.
The Combine's plan failed, and Alex and Gordon not only escaped C17, but helped many other Resistance members and citizens escape, as did Barney. However, there were still many people within C17 who did not listen to Kleiner who stayed behind.
Just as Alex and Gordon were escaping C17 by train, the castle exploded. A huge portal formed over the castle and data was beamed out, and Combine agents were launched in all directions using airships.
2. Stop the invasion (EP2)
After the castle exploded, C17 was completely destroyed, and it can be said that the United Army on Earth has been isolated, however, the data that was launched before the castle exploded caused the United Army on Earth to get in touch with the United Army's high-level worlds, and the ruins of the castle once again formed the beginnings of a gigantic super-portal, which, once formed, would allow the United Army to launch another invasion war. Once the portal is formed, the United Army will be able to launch another invasion war.
The train Alex and Gordon were traveling on overturned in the explosion, but both survived. The two of them use the abandoned radio to contact the White Forest side, and then decide to go to the White Forest to give the copied data to Kleiner and the others, and then use the data to shut down the Combine's portal. For their part, the Combine side hasn't given up searching for them for a moment, and the remaining Combine forces around C17 have begun to assemble, ready to recapture their data.
On the way to the White Forest, Alex is stabbed through the chest by a Combine blue hunter and is rescued by a Vortigaun and taken to a Resistance stronghold in an underground pit. Gordon and a Verdigon infiltrated the depths of the Ant-Lion Cave, got an extract of Ant-Lion eggs, and then saved Alex's life. At this point, the gman broke into Freeman's world once again, forcing Gordon in a commanding tone to escort Alex safely to the White Forest, and then asking Alex to deliver a message to Eli: "Prepare for unexpected results."
Alex wakes up and, along with Gordon and a Verdigon, finds a car in the old chemical plant, which Alex and Gordon then use to set out on the road to the White Forest.
On the way, they sabotaged the life support system of a Combine agent's egg, and the Combine agent escaped, but attracted heavy Combine forces, which they defeated and arrived at a Resistance stronghold, where Resistance comrades helped them repair the car that had just been broken in the engagement.
After that, Alex and Gordon's car was also ambushed by the Union, but the Union were unsuccessful.
Eventually, Alex and Gordon arrive at the rocket base in the White Forest, when Silo 2 malfunctions, and Dr. Magnuson asks Freeman to fix it, not realizing that the cause of the malfunction is sabotage by the Union Army. The Combine forces discover the location of the rocket base and airlift troops from silo 2 to the interior of the base, Gordon arrives at the control room of silo 2 in time to close the door.
Eli, Alex, Kleiner and Gordon then deciphered the data brought back and saw that Mossman had discovered the Northern Lights research vessel, a relic of Aperture Technology, at the North Pole, and that Mossman's life or death was uncertain. Kleiner decides to utilize the power of Aperture Technology against the Combine, but Eli is adamantly against it. After Alex delivered GMAN's words to Eli, Eli nearly fainted and repeatedly warned Gordon that he must destroy the ship.
At this point, the Combine were preparing to use a force of three-legged mechs to destroy Magnuson's rockets, and Gordon, under Magnuson's tutelage, learned to use the Magnuson Device - a sticky bomb to deal with the three-legged mechs - and then Gordon wiped out the Combine's attacking force and saved Magnuson's rockets. Kleiner and the others packaged the data into the satellite in the rocket and launched it, and the Combine portal immediately collapsed.
Next, Alex and Gordon decide to take a helicopter to the Arctic Circle in search of Mossman, Eli is killed by a Combine agent on their way out, luckily Dog shows up and saves Alex and Gordon, but Alex loses her father ......
The story is continuing, feel free to make changes and additions.

The following is partly unconfirmed, and is only reasoned or speculated for the sake of temporary plot articulation. If later V reveals content that conflicts with it, the V content will prevail.
1. Gordon Freeman. Who is Freeman?
First of all, from the outside we can see that he is a man (crap!!!) . Has a pair of green eyes and wears a pair of black-rimmed glasses. A dark brown beard, dark brown eyebrows, and dark brown and messy hair.
He's just an average guy. In fact, he's a very intelligent ordinary human being, a physicist.
In HL1, we learn that Freeman is 27 years old, unmarried and unattached. Born in the city of Seattle.
Just as Gordon graduates, Kleiner has made a big step forward in the top-secret program at the Black Mountain Institute, and is in desperate need of some assistants to do the rest of the work. Freeman was unquestionably chosen, and he agreed to work at the Black Mountain Institute. This is described in the main text section.

There is no doubt that he is the protagonist of the HL series, a man of few words, a man of great responsibility, a man of firm stance, a man of clear right and wrong. With a red-painted crowbar in hand and wearing a HEV suit with λ characters written on it, he, Gordon. He is Gordon Freeman.
According to Half-life 2: Raising the Bar, Gordon Freeman's name pays homage to Freeman Dyson, a famous American physicist.
2. What's the deal with HEV suits?
HEV protection system, the English Hazardous EnVironment, developed by the λ team of the Black Mountain base, specifically for the use of the scientific staff of the Black Mountain base in hazardous environmental conditions, such as the Black Mountain exploration team for the Xen to do business.
In HL1, Gordon uses the HEV fourth generation suit.
HEV 4 is a highly sophisticated protective system with multiple functions. First of all, HEV can help the user to complete a variety of actions, such as long crouching, jumping, etc., HEV can help the user to effortlessly complete; second, HEV has a variety of systems can help protect or warn the user's safety, these systems include: power assisted mobility system, high-impact reactive armor system, atmospheric contamination sensors, vivisection monitoring system, ammunition level monitoring system, communication systems, defense weapon selection systems and automated medical systems.

In HL2, Gordon uses the HEV 5, a protective system that Kleiner improved on the HEV 4 by adding a running aid and an underwater oxygen supply, and the HEV 5 can also be linked to the Combine's charging unit.
3. What is the Combine?
Combine, or Combined Forces, refers to a cosmic alliance, an interstellar organization. They set up colonies in various parts of the universe and reduce other races to slavery; the humans in HL2 are under their rule. The Combine specializes in transforming other species to serve the Combine for the Combine under the control of the Combine, such as the Combine soldiers and three-legged mechs in HL2, which are all creatures that have been transformed by them. In other words, the Combine is, in fact, a concentration of many species in one large group.
4. Who are the G-man?
For this question Read with caution: everything is speculation!
5. What exactly is the army of the Blackshirts?
We don't have enough information about this either. All we know is that their mission is to plant a nuclear bomb on the Black Mesa base and kill any creatures that try to stop them, including the military.
6. Where are the creatures from HL1?
Some of them are still on Earth, the headhunting crabs being a good example. Some of them went extinct on Earth because they couldn't adapt to the Earth's environment. (Officially, VAVLE says their absence does not mean they are all extinct or killed off by the Combine.)
